Tring Athletic join the Forum

Recommended Posts

I stumbled across the SSML forum a few weeks ago and been having a bit of a nose now & again. Given that there are quite a few clubs already represented, I thought my club ought to have voice too. I've added a link to the TAFC website so there may be a few more joining in as well.

We do. The clubs "merged" about 3 seasons back after Tring Town's clubhouse burnt down and we were refused permission for floodlights at our old Miswell Lane ground. We built a new £250k clubhouse thanks to a local sponsor (Grass Roots Group) the Football Foundation & a lot of work & fundraising from the committee.

We lost 5-1 at home to King's Lynn after a couple of good wins. Its nice to see them having gone on to 2nd Round & I've heard they are one of the Sky matches vs Oldham. They seemed a good footballing side and they brought about 150 supporters with them as well, which always helps on the financial side!!

Welcome mate - enjoy the banter.
Kings Lynn - yep a great side. They have a great following (800+ at home games). Reckon the Oldham game will be a sell out!!. And yes on TV (Sky Sports). That will generate some extra revenue for them.

Must have been the first time Tring had conceded five at home since we went there in the SSML a couple of seasons ago! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Welcome to the forum (maybe there should be a goalkeepers forum just for you lot!). One word of advice - treat everything Rhodes says with a pinch of salt and don't let him wind you up.

We've been leaking a few this season. I think we've let in more league goals this year already than the whole of last season. Had heavy defeats from Hertford and Edgware. The latter of which played some great football (I didn't see the Hertford game though.)

I did - it was very enjoyable from our point of view!

Your new clubhouse is excellent. I went to the old one when we played Tring Town - a vast improvement.

Last time I saw a game at Tring it was at Miswell Lane and we lost 1-3 (always lose to them anyway), Tring Athletic have come on a long way since then.

Do you follow any team in yellow and blue?

I played in a 2-2 draw at 61FC at the end of the season about 3/4 years ago. I think Pringle scored both your goals (past me!) and our centre forward broke his leg. I seem to remember almost getting hit by a cricket ball whilst in the top goal

Yes welcome Tring, nice to have you onboard as I have some good friends at your well run and progressive Club, please ignore Potters Bar Town's comment as they are way off the mark.

Welcome Tringarmy, I was at the game when we beat you 6-2 earlier this season. I enjoyed my night at your ground, we enjoyed some great hospitality and your ground and clubhouse are very nice.

All the best for the rest of the season
