Hi Mws.

It's a little more interesting than that, although I doubt whether Gibbo and the blazers consider 'interesting' to be the most appropriate word.

If the contract that was sent to the FA at the beginning of the season had not gone walkabout, the FA would regard Hakim to be a contract player and the Muff would have been forced to come to t'Park waving their chequebook if they wanted to secure his services. As it was, the FA regarded him as a non-contract player registered with us and for Weymouth to talk to him, they should first send us a seven-day approach thingy. According to Gibbo, that arrived on Monday. [i'm sure that Hakim enjoying a day or two at the seaside in one of Martyn Harrison's hotels in Weymouth last week, allegedly, was mere co-incidence.]

Here's the interesting bit.

Whether the contract was received at Soho Square or not, it exists, [Not that I doubt Gibbo's word for a moment, but, in any event, he's hardly likely to lie about it, is he?] And I assume that it's a contract of employment between the club and the player obliging him to play for us, attend traing, do what the manager tells him to do, stay in the clubhouse for at least 90 minutes after full-time etc. etc and for our part, we have to pay him whatever the agreed weekly or monthly wage that had been agreed.

And that can only be changed by agreement between the parties.

From Gibbo's comments in the St Albans Observer, he appears unlikely to seek an amicable settlement with our old friends from the Wessex Stadium.

I would have thought if we have a copy of the contract, the player as well (although i wouldn't put it past him to say he's never seen it) and more importantly the confrence has a copy then, even though the FA don't have one, I can't see it being a problem, after all it may of been the FA that lost it.

I think we let him go on loan on 1st Dec for a month and muff splash the cash on Jan 1st...

Hi EFMTFTV.

The point is that there are two points.

The first point is the basis upon which the Muff approached t'lad - did they break the rules or not; if so what's the penalty, etc, and, in ordinary circumstances, if it was found that they hadn't broken the rules, Hakim would be wearing the No. 29 shirt at the Wessex next week.

The second point makes it interesting. Whether or not Weymouth have broken any rules, there is a contract of employment between The Mighty Saints and this player.

It will end up at the Court of Human Rights, I expect.

Hi AFF

As you say, interesting. I guess the outcome is that Hakim is finished at CP whatever Gibbo and Lord Colin say in the local papers (I haven't seen the Observer but the Herts Ad coverage is quite detailed as well). We should forget him and move on and not let all this nonsense interfere with the serious business of collecting some points.

What remains to be settled is how long 'we' can block Hakim from playing at Weymouth (or elsewhere) and what penalty they get for the alleged illegal approach and what fee if any they must pay us. Presumably on that seven day thingy even if Hakim were a non-contract player it has been sent after the event so Weymouth must be in breach there. All best left to Gibbo to sort out I guess.

Cheers

No "" around the 'We' at the start of your second sentence, I see Mws. Perhaps we're weaning you away from err.. The Mighty er... umm... foxes? kyoceras? motor car weeklies?.. whatever Reading are called anyway.

Let's move on.

Bring on the Stafford.
