Astonishing game...especially extra time.

 

Potton had better of the first half and looked a decent side. Quite physical but not dirty but also played some good football at times. They deserved a 1-0 lead at half time courtesy of a 39th minute goal.

 

We hadn't really got going but came back in the second half. Anthony Page missed a good chance but we equalised on 74 when substitute Aaron Mcleish White was felled and The Sway thumped home the spot kick. No more goals in the 90 and so to extra time.

 

18 seconds in Potton retook the lead and although we missed a chance to equalise, the game looked over when they added a third a minute into the second period of extra time. By now we had used all three subs with Chris Henry hospitalised after receiving a severe gash to his leg and another injury put us down to ten men. Somehow though we kept battling and Mcleish scored two wonderful goals on 110 and 115 minutes to silence the crowd (apart from the five or six manor fans) and earn a replay on Monday night.

 

Oh and the big news is that Tomm Lambourne, Arthur Barker and Uduma Kalu have all left the club..no doubt appearing at KTFC soon!!!!!

Yes they could go to KTFC or return to Haringey Borough or the club if Julian Hudson gets another management role this year. Arthur Baker is a good player and a winner, Tommy L needs to be more intelligent on the ball he needs to take it down instead of long hoofs, he has got a shot but must be aware about covering off the ball in regards to covering the space, Uduma for me has got pace but too little work rate to be rated highly.

I won't hijack this thread but I just want to say 'what a surprise', very much Ruislip Manor's loss for not appreciating their services. Oh and yes their phones and computers will all be burning red hot today, sorry white hot.

Football is a game of opinions Rhodes and our manager didn't see in those players the gushing talent you obviously do. As i said before he is trying to find the right blend of players to build a title winning squad..some of the pieces of the jigsaw are in place, some still have to be found. Lambourne et al were in the managers opinion (which lets face it is the only one that matters) not the right pieces.

Lato - And I thought Haringey's Website was not updated regularly. I assume Potton United travelled to Grosvenor Vale and were rightly dismayed when they arrived, as I was, to find the game off, do you have to pay towards their expenses in such unfortunate circumstances although I know the Vase isn't the same as the FA Cup whereby the home team pays towards the away teams travel. Do you have a date for the re-arranged game as yet, will it be this week or next.

As I was told by text in mid-afternoon, it is likely that Potton were told early enough not to have to travel.

The game is rearranged for Monday 27th November kick off 8pm. I suggest you look at the RMFC website as late as you can on that day if it could be in doubt as a message should get posted to say if the game is off.
