after a promising start and a much needed early goal disallowed (anyone know why?) the match descended into a very poor advert for our league I am afraid to say....in the second half especially we were very poor and the two goals conceded were gifts really....maldon were not a very good side but unfortunately they were better than us today...

we aint getting the rub of the green but even so we were not at the races in the second half at all..

not a good week...:o)

It did start well and looked promising.

Kris Lee was i think accused of pushing when he netted with his header.but looked a perfectly good goal to me.

Cross going off at half time changed the balance of the team and they were bloody awful 2nd half.

...and for the 2nd attended home game in a row i was within 1 number of the 50/50.

What doesn't help us is that most teams that come to The Bridge see it as their Cup Final. To hear the shouts of celebration from the Maldon players as they ran up the stairs after the match you would have thought they had won the league. I guess this is a cross we have to bear - everyone wants to beat us.

indeed they do sid and we'll have to accept that as a compliment...better that I suppose than the fckers coming to the bridge and thinking they don't want to be there....we set the standards and we live or 'lose' by them....

we ourselves as fans and indeed the whole club have very high expectations....80 odd % of league games won in 5 years leaves us with the taste and demand for victory .....

but as has been proven over that time.....we stick together through adverstity...

we move onwards and up the M25....

The referee I think claimed it was a push by Lee prior to the header.

My own theory is that he was given a new whistle as an early Xmas present and simply wanted to use it non stop today.

To my way of thinking, the referee's continuous use of the whistle completely broke up the flow of the game.

Colin will do what he has to to turn this blip in form around. He is the best Manager in this league by a country mile.

What I really like aboout NLF is that the players actually care. We spoke to one of our players in the clubhouse after the match (of course he shall remain nameless) but he said that this performance "f*cked up his weekend". If Man. Utd. lose then Wayne Rooney et al. shrug their shoulders, jump into their expensive cars and zoom off home to count their money.

Let nobody think our players don't give 100% and that they don't care!

This season is going to be a long hard slog.

A few weeks ago there was a post asking when we thought we would win the league. Implying we would win it with weeks to spare!

last season was a "Gift from God" or Karl!

No one who we meet at the Bridge this season are going to roll over and die ....we have to beat them!

Which I am sure we can do.

My prediction within the first 5 mins was 4-0, oh how wrong I was we did look the part for the first half.

A very physical game with Maldon number 8 going off with an injury, he should not even have been on the pitch at that stage as he hacked our midfield to death.

We are lacking the confidence in the last third Amos was unlucky with the header and the goal that was not a goal sealed our fate for the day.

We have been lucky with the other results today, but no one every said that this was going to be easy,it is a long fews months until the end of the season and I am sure that the scoring will return and with it some excellant performances.

I seem to recal a cup final between Man United and Millwall.... Man United still won even though it was Millwall's cup final!

thats a good point 'A'...we do need to accept that the stadia del urchino is a place where visiting players and managers can 'strut their stuff' on a bigger stage than they are used to and therefore we need to raise our game at home to combat it...personally I think that we have played better away this season and indeed I thought and have said the same about last season....

this year we are competing on a level playing field and we cannot expect any favours from anyone...perhaps as I said earlier...expectation is to high...

and of course well done to maldon who rode the early storm and gained confidence and took their chances....
