Who reported to Confguide? This from their site:

 

"The only goal of the game came in the 69th minute when Omome Sodje tapped home after the initial shot from Charlie MacDonald was parried by Billy Turley.

 

Oxford had the majority of the possession but could not make that count in an under-par perfromance from the league leaders."

 

Majority of the possession? If so, they did bloody badly at getting into the last third.

 

Parried shot from MacDonald? I'll look at my own video clip later. I thought it was a definite pass into an onrushing Sodje, who controlled the ball then took it past the keeper, who injured himself trying to intercept, before slotting home.

It certainly does not reflect the match report on BBC 1 Teletext page 313. Which was more near the mark.

 

As I recall, I was looking mainly at the Plough end in the first half, and feeling more confident as the play progressed, Unlucky not to score,

I gave already said it elsewhere but congratulations on a fine win, we were not at the races today (or perhaps the team were if you see what I mean) and according to the radio commentary I listened to you deserved to.

 

As someone has already said you will go down as the team that stopped our run and also preserved a record that has stood for something like 45 years if I read it right.

 

Final thing, I would much rather it had gone to you than the loudmouths of Aldershot and I said this on our board a couple of weeks ago.

 

Now we owe you one.......... be afraid, very afraid....... <lol>

I think our fans are a fairly honest lot. I have just found this report on our own guestbook which seems to be an accurate account of the match from someone wh wa there.

 

"Well. I've just got back from Gravesend......sometimes we have to be honest.....a brief summing up; viz

 

Gravesend wanted it more (unusual I know).

They outfought us throughout the match.

They always won the second ball.

Their football was better than ours and their half-backs and forwards could control and run with the ball.

Brevett and Eddie A were creuly exposed for lack of everything.

Bash spent more time on his a.rse than I did (and I was sitting).

Slabby....oh my god, oh my god......OH MY GOD! (sorry dd)

 

I could go on and on...we have often said "we have got away with it in matches"....but this time we got found out....should have lost by two or three"

 

And also:

 

No arguements there about crap refs etc but honest opinions.

Swap 'Gravesend' for 'Chelmsford' and we could have said exactly the same thing three weeks ago. Funny old game...
