Certainly knew where the goal was. Unfortunately he was paid his goal bonus' ( or is it boni ) in cream cakes.

elaboration - There is a common theme on this forum of posters dissing ( look at me getting down with the kids) others to boost their own 'Fleetness' or 'pseudo' intellect.

Which to me comes across as bollox.

Others may differ tho, but I can live with that.

Up the Fleet. Let the broad church remain.

Point out the 'diss' in the post in question, and I'll gladly agree with you.

in one of Jerry D's better crafted works used the line ' Are you so blind , that you can not see'

you asked so here we go

AFF and JATF appear in this thread. To be honest both have been quiet as of late. But both appear in this thread have a little pop at the forum, but not the club.

And then suddenly comes a post that they are both asked questions that could question their Fleetness.

At JATF

Quote:
Would have thought that you would have been there. Or were you unable to get a ticket because of all the freebies that were distributed to non-supporters?

By inference if all tickets went to non supporters, then John must be a true Dart supporter. You can't get more a diss than this , ( poets out there take note )

and then AFF harangued for not answering a question a few weeks ago about his last appearance at the Road. To anyone on this forum , it is patently obvious it was more than a few years ago. No issue at all and not of interest in this thread in the slightest.

But inference is that , as all knew the answer would be some years back and thus, his opinions are not as legitimate as others. ( Please see comments made to people who do not attend all away games)

May be its just a coincidince, maybe its a conspiricy, or may be its a clique. Personally I blame Forest green but its patently obvious what I think, but we are all big enough to make our own minds up.

I couldn't care less who is more Fleetier than who, I just wish there were more of us.

Up the Fleet - and all who sail with her

The issue is that if someone doesn't go to a game, any game, and therefore did not see any incidents that may have taken place then they can not give their opinions on what took place. If you were in court you wouldn't be able to give evidence on something you didn't see.

Not at all... as I recall kmj originally posted that he was asking out of interest about howlong AFF was out of the country and nothing at all to do with his loyalty to the Fleet. I may be wrong (and can't be bothered to check) but that's the way I took it.

Bollox . people can give their opinions on what they want. The onus is on others on what credence they give to them. There are millions of people whom talk football and give opinions everyday , but only a minority ever go to a game.

we all read things differently.

As one wise old Owl once said

Quote:
It's one thing having a conversation with people face to face, then if they disagree the they can argue back ( or punch you !) but here, you are posting your remarks to all....and often, as in e-mails, you do not get the tone in which it may be said.

I certainly agree with that. The only problem is when people slip into parading their opinions as authoritative on the basis of a Radio commentary. Regardless of the quality of the Radio Kent boys' work, it is difficult to come across as informed if you are merely repeating what was said by someone else. A 3 year-old can repeat people but that doesn't mean they are clever.

But what if you are blind.
We had/have a blind girl in the stands at Fleet for years - never seen a game. Is she entitled to an opinion?

Millions of people once thought the Earth was flat, they were wrong. People can't write match reports on games they don't see.

You do seem to have an intolerence to the disabled, or people with chronic illnesses, don't yoy Harry.

For example your tasteless thoughts on G Best and now implying the blind should have no say on what they cannot see.

Maybe you should show a little more empathy & less bigotry.

Who knows, someone close to you might develop a serious illness or blindness one day.

CG I'm not taking sides by any means, but I think Harry J was speaking along the lines of 'you can't judge want you don't see' rather than trying to degrade blind people, and as for the comments on George Best's alcoholism, I personally think he wasted the liver that was donated to him ahead of some-one else in the 'queue'- alcoholism may be an illness, but, regardless of what you thought of George Best, most can't help but think that that new liver could have been better used.

I have someone close to me that has a serious illness. I know all about alcholism thanks as I lost a friend to that. Shock you do they, those two statements?

You seem to be implying that I shouldn't be talking about stuff I know nothing about. Well then we have no arguement as I have the same opinion as you and that's what this is all about.

Seeing how I do know what I'm talking about on account of both serious illness' I am allowed to comment.
