Edgware knock out Ryman prem Enfield Town!!!

Recommended Posts

Edgware knocked Enfield Town out of the Middx senior cup 1st round with a convincing 2-1 victory away in front of 115. Enfield fielded thier strongest side, but they found it hard to contain a confident Edgware side. Enfield are 2nd in the divison above us and that is the standard we want to be playing at next season. Staines beat wealdstone so it will be Staines at home in the next round

Does anyone know the final score of Ashford town middx v Harefield, the ryman site have it down as 3-3 aet

Would have bet my house on the winner being a pen in the last 5 minutes! Whatever you say about Edgware, they keep going to the very end!

...
What the goal times dont tell you is that for some unexplained reason the ref played five mins extra in the first half (in which we scored) and about NINE mins extra at the end of the second half.

Shame that Wealdstone lost 2 - 0 to Staines Town. The next round is at the White Lion and a game with Wealdstone would have given us a bumper gate as they wre our tenants for a number of years. it would also have given the clubs an opportunity to build some bridges, as we are going to be close neighbours when PEPF is finished.

Thats true, but I suspect Wealdstone would have turned up with their usual chip on both shoulders

Well done on your win last night, thoroughly deserved.
One point though, it wasn't actually our strongest side, we gave a few fringe players a game.
Good luck in the next round.

Thanks for that, it was good to play in front of a crowd over 100. I thought it was maybe your stongest side, but then I saw that Bonefield was in goal and he is not your regular number 1.

Still, it was a pretty stong side, and you are a step higher and doing well, so it was an excellent result for us.

Your club members made us very welcome, and the hopitality was GREAT, never seen so much food at HT and after the game

All the best for the rest of the season

We did beat their first team in the FA cup earlier in the season, we were hanging on for dear life at the end of the game though.

Well done though Gav, its good for the SSML to win these games, but theres always claims of a weakened side when higher div teams lose.

Sorry to burst ur bubble gav, but enfield only played 5 first teamers last night..
Very good win but it was against a makeshift side who had an eye on an important game on friday night.

...
Well in that case, serves them right for taking us too lightly. We had several players coming back from injury and had one or two out, so you could say it was about right then.

Who have they got on Friday?
