i make him spot on to be fair, especially when he said he was 'saying what everyone else is thinking'. what do you reckon about female officials? i personally have my doubts on whether they are up to it, but then again neither are a lot of the male officials.

Women can't officiate, they don't have the attention span..... There's always a part of their brain that's thinking about shoes!!!

Well i totally disagree. I know u think it's because i am also of the female species, but it's not just that.

Why shouldn't women be officals? At the end of the day, the men r making such a mess up of it, what more damage could we do?!

Why is it a case of womaen can't do it? I know a woman who did all her exams etc and the examiners told her she was better than the men. Like me she had been brought up with football and had forgotten more than the other males knew!

and at least we make less mistakes than the men!

Yes we do think about shoes, but at least we will know who the players r as we will remember their foot wear

i can see wear you are coming from kattyann and almost agree with what you say but i wouldnt have confidence in a female official.

i would say women are easily intimidated, but that goes for most male refs anyway.

women dont have the football brains, but male refs seem to struggle as well.

Ha Ha, good riposte!

However, only a women could have done what that woman referee did in Brazil. Allowing a goal scored by a ball-boy to stand.

But why not have confidence in a female official? I don't understand that statement? No one has faith in the male ones at the moment so why not give them a chance.

As for being easily intimidated, how do u know that? Male officals can and are easily intimidated. We see it week in week out.

Also how dare u say women do not know enough about football. Like i said earlier, i know women who know more about football than most men. I am one of them!

Right put it this way, do u honestly think if i was running the line or in the middle do u think that i would be intimidated by the guys round me?! I hope your answer would be no, as i know that i can make a decision, even if incorrect, and live with it. I do it at work all day every day!

At the end of the day all the female and male officals r all human. There is where lies the problem.

Yeah cos Graham Poll let one player have 3 yellow cards before he sent them off.

Is he a woman?!

No, but he is a tart!! And whilst that was stupid it doesn't compare with what the lass in Brazil did.... nearly caused a full scale riot!!!

If a woman can demonstrate excellent referring/Lino skills, then fair enough.

What I think Mike Newell was saying is that HE feels some woman are being "Shoe-horned" in to the Football League to appease the Equal Opps brigade. And that they are not there on merit. He called it "Tokenism"!!!

i think thats a good point hookey. everything seems to be geared towards political correctness whether it race issues or sexism. what about the guy fawkes party that burnt a tiger rather then a guy fawkes to be PC. bollox.

if a woman proves herself good enough i dont suppose it a problem but i dont see why women should do it in the mens game. women referee womene and men referee men. i think that would be best.

I agree about Graham Poll!

I understand what is being said by Mike Newall and do agree to a certain extent. Yes there should be more women but like he said, they should be able and up to doing the job correctly.

But there are not enogh women in football and the law does state that there has to be a certain number. It's not fair/great whatever, but there u go.

But what i don't agree with is why single out the women? There r plenty of men around that r there to make up the numbers. Why should the women be highlighted?

ALL bad refs/linos should be pointed out and be discussed, not just the women.

So women physios (of which there r more, esp at our level) should only be physio at womens clubs and men only at mens clubs?
