blimey! if chelms can beat aldershot in the 1st round replay they have basingstoke in the 2nd round. they must now have dreams of a glamour 3rd round tie against a top premiership team.

 

i'm jealous. this is what i've been dreaming of for ricky my entire life.

No reason to be jealous. It happens...

 

Chelmsford have to get through Aldershot at the Rec. And with 2,500 plus 'Shot's supporters baying for blood, it's certainly not going to easy.

 

And then they have to get through the next round. There is a long way to go before they can even consider a 3rd round game against a top Premier side.

 

And if they do...why be jealous? Let 'em get on with it. We can't go round looking at other clubs and wishing what could've been. We have to support our club, look at the now and deal with what can be.

Yes. They have a really tough replay at Aldershot next week. But will know that if they can get through it they have a 2nd round tie that is, at least on paper, a lot easier than their previous two cup matches. So being in the hat for the 3rd round draw must feel tantalisingly close.

Jealousy is such a negative emotion. Now envy! That's a different thing altogether! I'm envious of any club that has a decent run in the cup. Some great matches to enjoy, great atmosphere, increased gate receipts, prize money. Who wouldn't like to see their club benefit from all that.

Unfortunately for CCFC it seems that all is not sweetness & light up there, post match. They've been reported to the FA for a "spitting" incident, and the soppybox is degenerating into a forum for personal vendettas again. Seems there's no pleasing some people.

Great post Gazza - though how can you get the message across to all your other supporters that they MUST NOT be jealous or envious of CCFC.

Thanks TC. However, think "your old friend A.N." would be a lot happier if one of the guys on our soapbox would stop questionning his ability to count the attendance!

He'll certainly be happy with the estimated £50K earned from the FA Cup so far with a further £12/13K from the replay gate. An extra £16K prize money would also come in handy, but I fear we may have missed our chance on Saturday.

Were there? If your referring to my post you've misinterpreted it (or perhaps I didn't make myself clear). I think it's a genuine shame that what must have been a great day for many long term Clarets is spoilt a little by the Ref reporting that incident to the FA. Specially as it was probably caused by some kids who've never been to MP before.
I can also assure you that CCFC's results have very little effect on my state of "happiness", other than when they directly affect 'ricays league standing!

Point taken Rick. Agreed it's a shame that the day was slightly spoilt by the behaviour of a few juvenile chavs, but upon reflection I suppose it was better that they utilised their saliva rather than their loose change!
