Er, well yes seeing how it was AWK's first post on this thread, as I say you have to sympathise with Newell for speaking his mind and he has been hung out to dry for it.

I asked if you actually heard it - not read it here!

Further to this topic I happened to hear on the grapevine that Amy Rayner was fast tracked purely because she was a Woman and not because she was thought to be good enough, if Newell had said this then the FA would have no doubt thrown the book at him however very few people would have actually disagreed. I found the link below interesting if you can be bothered to read it all:

Very interesting, Rhodes. But nothing to do with what you "heard on the grapevine" - heard from whom? As a "senior" government official, you should know all about positive discrimination, be it gender, race or whatever.

My contact also believes that this is partly why modern society has gone to the dogs because Mothers aren't at home caring for their offspring and can't wait to get back out to work virtually as soon as they have given birth. Please don't shoot the messenger on this post.

So now you're picking up Royal Secret information 'on the grapevine'? That should give everyone faith in our Ministry of Silly Walks when even the tea boy can pick up on the most secretive of information.

I'm sure that the messenger agrees totally with these ideas, and that these are his words, not those of his contact. Maybe next time you ask me to add a match report to Mitoo, I should say sorry, no time, I'm busy cooking dinner.

HTFCew - That's very funny however I can assure you that's not my own personal view. There is however some mileage in the point about society today going to the dogs and perhaps if Mothers did spend more time at home taking care of their children whilst the husband or partner concentrated on the bread winning side of things then surely this would add more stability to old fashioned family values.

No I didn't say that but I suppose it makes some sense.

Potters Bar Town - Well yes and no, don't you think that family values have gone out the window and modern society is out of control compared to the good old days when we were at School.
