a saturday afternoon mugging

Uncle Urchin

Recommended Posts

I've seen some one sided games in my 40 years of senior football but never ever have I seen such a dominant side lose the match...

make no mistake this was a good urchin performance but oh my goodness how we missed the chances....one after the other in the first half and in fact harlow actually never got into our box for 30 minutes.....

but goals win games and whilst our strikers were busy missing open goals their sammy winston took their only two chances of the 90 minutes and converted them well....

the harlow faithful will surely be larfing for months after todays result and good luck to them...so would we be...

great new stadium (bars far too small tho') and as always warm friendly people who we know well...good banter 'tween the fans and the 'you aint got no tellies we have' from our lot after the game was lost was classic....they always find something positive...

positives from today....well several...firstly harlow will not win the league...in spite of today's mugging they are nowhere near good enough...imo

sudbury... who I believe can win the league... also lost...

no janney or southon and still an excellent team performance from the urchins....I felt sorry for colin and ronnie on the bench....there is little they can do about days like today so keep your chins up lads....

well done harlow...

first half we played well!

second half we showed no fight!

couldn't hit a barn door either!

I think I said that we missed our chances....

and it pays a little to reflect and let disappointment wash away before lashing out craig...and it wasn't a 'fight'... it was a football match......

they had two chances and scored them...we had 12 in total and missed them....we also dominated play for the entire game...

you are of course entitled to your opinion as always...

I'll concede that our keeper kept us in it but we definately had more fight in the 2nd half and the two goals were very well finished.

I agree we won't win the league on that performance but with a few more of our missing players back in, and one or two additions, who knows. I thought our centre-back Danny Boateng did well considering he's a striker providing a bit of cover for injured players.

Enjoyed the banter with the Urchin fans, but one or two were over the top, threatening some of our lads and one threw a coin at our fans which was a tad out of order. Obviously been watching the Premiership too much...

Anyway, off for a few more beers now. See you at the bridge .

don't know anything about a coin being thrown hawker or indeed threats but there was a little bit of goading going on from both camps which is perhaps normal...... but the banter seemed healthy enough and loud enough to me from my vantage point....

enjoy your beer/s...they always taste better when a 'mugging' has been perpetrated....

and thanks for the hospitality and a well run day....appreciated..

Unc,

After that display, if we cannot beat Harlow, I wonder just where we are.

Wonderful ground, glad that we played on a Saturday in November, I would hate it on a Tuesday night in February, it would be [****!!****] freezing.

i am not lashing out, this has been building up for weeks now.

we have been lucky in the past by playing poor and winning!

i didnt say it was a fight, it would have helped if we showed some passion and desire to want the game.

opinions are always allowed! not!

well they are top of the league altho' god knows how after their performance today.......but hey...they nicked the 3 points....

however...our strikers are proven scorers over seasons in leagues higher than ours....and as poor as they were today in front of goal it wasn't just them was it...we 'conspired' well as a team today to keep the harlow goal 'free from footballs'....

we must have faith and despite the disappointment today over the result that was a very good urchin performance imo...but others will have their opinions for sure...

as disappointed as I am...I won't criticise the team over todays result...we should have won by 4 clear goals and on another day would have...

craig....if you have a problem with the team or the club then you are welcome to come down and speak to me jen jonno or indeed colin and his team....we are there all the time....we would value your expert and experienced opinion on all matters relating to our club and our footballing strategy seeing as tho' you appear to have so much experience in these matters.....

forum posts slating off our club are okay but you really need to be brave enough to discuss these matters openly with us if you feel so strongly about it.....perhaps next saturday we could have a meeting with you....

we lost a game of football.....pick your dummy up and get over it...

it was both an impressive and frustrating performance (well, it wouldn't be football otherwise, would it?). i think we were maybe a little too hesitant on trying to finish and would prefer to see more people having a crack at goal, hitting it first time. I'm not saying to hit it wildly but there were several occasions where we took one or two touches too many and the move (some of them involving some great build up play) broke down.

Certainly as one sided a game as I have seen in many a moon, except perhaps for the Arsenal V CSKA debacle.

Still, we played well enough, without managing the final touch and I think perhaps Janney's class was missed.

In a combatative afternoon Adam Parker was lucky to say on the pitch from where I stood, although I was on the 'flag-side'and so at some distance.

If the first one from Cross that hit the post would have gone in we would be 3 points and several goals better off - but that's both the joy and despair of the game.

Anyway, onwards and upwards and when they come down the bridge perhaps we can shove that air raid siren somewhere where the sun don't shine (and I don't mean Tilbury!)

you are correct...it was right in front of me and he was lucky to escape the red and actually got away with it completely...but then again if he went their No 4 went as well for kicking fck out of his own player in the same incident....

now that was surreal....

Rest assured it was only banter although I noticed the Harlow contingent did disperse during the game. Please come down to the Bridge for the return..........We'll stick a rocket up you're [****!!****] for the journey home back up the M11, only kidding

I'll look forward to the video!

Still, despite the days events on the pitch there was one fine moment on the terraces when Mr Lurchin - who appeared adequately refreshed - lived up to his name and took a header, got up and looked around to see if anyone had seen it. Only about 250 people. No offence meant but made me laugh and probably just a bit too close to home!

Roll on next Tuesday when we can make up some ground on the leaders.
