Slarti, compared to me everyone's a good looking bloke, even you. Don't forget we do have some listeners who are - I know you will find this hard to believe - WOMEN! FACT(c 2004 David Brent), especially among Ross's chums in Canada and the USA. I know cos his Mum told me - and she listens too, with all the family kitted out in their GNFC shirts.

I hope the news next Saturday will be better than yesterday when I cover the Oxford game.

Yesterday some old bloke was really slagging off Peter Hawkins and giving him stick, I on the other hand thought he had a superb game and was man of the match.

I didn't think he had a good game. But then again not many players did!
My man of the Match would probably be George Purcell who caused Cambridge a few problems when he came on.
Best player for the whole match would probably be Mark Ricketts.

Yes disappointing - Abbey stadium was as cold as ever, no pubs near ground , and no mustard for hot dogs.

Local girls had a penchant for bald men, so with my full flowing ( thats relatively speaking ) locks I had no chance.

As for the game, first half thought we held our own, we had more ball and more chances , they had less ball but better chances.

But goals change games , two in the minutes either side of HT meant in our present state no way back.

Changes were needed but 3 at the same time was a bit overboard, but young george provided inspiration down the left and we spurned 2 good chances. However all the good work GP done going forward we were exposed down the flank and chances then came at t'other end. Which resulted in one more and possibly could have been a few more.

MOM IMHO Keeling - never stopped trying

Prat of the match - The old git in the crowd who slagged off Hawkins from start to finish.

we are in danger of alienting any "read but dont post" gnfc fans who may be thinking about going to see the fleet in the future for the first time or maybe just more often. someof the attitudes displayed on here are at times "clicky" if not verging on a full blown them and us attitude. ifyou cannot make every game you should still be allowed to voice your opinion based on your own experience of the team and obtaining little bits of info from those that were there. trying to claim oneupmanship because you religiously make every fleet game where as some people may have other things to do in their lifes and are unfortunately unable to make every game is a little bit sad and does nothing to promote a happy fun fleet following. nobody wants to watch a club where their own fans can not even get on.

Some of the wisest words spoken on here for a long time.

I did not go to Morecambe last week, so I did not post on the game. I went to Cambridge yesterday and feel like I can make some reasonable judgements - for example, Hawkins played well, Ross didn't, Long shouldn't have come off and DeBolla was anonymous when he came on. Such specific comments simply cannot be made by those who did not attend the game. That must be obvious to everyone.

Almost, but not quite. The observation by jc about general and specific posts is more accurate.

Some, such as CG, post on away games without firsthand knowledge but like to portray themselves as being in the know.

CG likes to use legal metaphors so this should not be lost on him.

Who would you rely on in a court of law, the 'witness' who heard about something secondhand (hearsay)and wasn't actually there, or the person who was actually there and was an eyewitness to the events unfolding? A 'no brainer' really.

It is not a case of stopping opinion, but of considering the source and what he/she has to say and weighing up who can actually help us to learn what has happened, not invent it. For this reason it is always more instructive to wait and read the posts by supporters who have managed to get to an away game rather than, say, CG put the world to right simply on the strength of what Chas Webster may or may not have said.

Personally, while not doubting C Ws loyalty to the Fleet at all, sometimes this does get in the way of his journalism as his reports are just a bit too cosy/subjective.I sometimes wonder what non-Fleet supporting listeners to Radio Kent make of them? For the best away reports, those when Phil Kinsella (spelling?)is hired to cover the northern games are more objective and hard to beat. You lose some humour of course, but get a more balanced report as a result.

So, if we cannot make away games, we ought not to comment on those games!!

I don't comment on individual players, preferring to comment on the bigger picture of selection & gameplay.

I have noticed that results seem to have an effect on the bitchiness of postings on here.

Consequently, from now on I shall be posting on here rather less often, but visit the rather more mature official forum site.

Defensively we were crap and missed Macca, If we had scored when we had the upper hand in the first half we would have gone on to win, I agree with LD bringing on 3 subs as the team need a kick up the [****!!****] again Charlie didn't get the service he disserves (Note to team; he ain't a tall lad so to feet please). Apart from that, they disserved it, it was fing cold, the local girls/ were very friendly as me and Shakey didn't leave the town centre till late and didn't get back to the west end till 12 o'clock.

Let's hope we do the opposite to Spurs beat the big boys this week having lost to the average on Sat.

This weeks pie rating 8 out of 10….pukka

Congratulations, what banana would you like?

Which part of this are you having trouble with Gary? Is it the not being able to comment on stuff you haven't seen? If you can't make many away games that’s fair enough, there are many who can't but these people don't talk about us playing the hoof it up field style of play when they simply haven't seen it.

The trouble is I can see which way this is going Gary. I think we're going to have a poor winter where we travel to these away games playing long ball. We may not it may go the other way but I just think it's going to be a long hard winter. Then we'll come on here to say you regurgitating the same old stuff from last season.
