Looks like we went 4-4-2 for this one and Liam had a rush of blood on 54 minutes and made all his substitutions!

That wasn't a rush of blood he has been listening to Chatham Gary....

What I would hope is that we do not slide into the tactics of last year - the big hoof, not the right "system" and pointless tactical substitutions after 85 minutes.
As JC said, we do need width down both flanks, which really means 442 with proper defensive full backs and attacking wingers.
Personel are not so important as formation.

we were in the game right up to the first goal which was against the run of play. And I think was about their first serious attempt at goal. up to that point I would say we were on top. But as soon as the first goal went in we went to pieces and that was that.

Can't agree with that Stu. It was never their first chance. What about the open goal where their bloke basically cleared it off the line? And then there was that one that almost get headed in before Hawkins cleared it away. Nor was the goal against the run of play, we didn't really have too many memorable chances. There was only one team at the races today and they won 3-0. Both teams got what they deserved.

Obviously LD wasn't reading my postings, otherwise he would have had the boys playing a fluent, short, crisp, passing game with lots of good off the ball running, and sound substitutions.

Hopefully he will get the lads to check out this forum later this week.

Why? All people are going to say is how terrible we are despite still beating all expectations on current league positions. Personally I would say the last three games have been poor and I don't want to cause offence Gary but you didn't see any of them so you can't really go on what you see written on here or heard from a friend or Chas Webster.

I think it would be better if you just kept your comments to yourself right now and then when you see the team play you can comment on that performance.

I have only opined afterreading the postings of those who went awaay, such as Stu T, Redneck & yourself.

Are you saying that only those in a position to travel away can have an opinion on here?

Ludicrous!

I read the reports on here, in the distorter, bbc, conference reports, listen on Rk when I can, nlp, mail on sunday, so I do actually get a balanced idea of how we play.

If anybody who did not go was not allowed an opinion from something they heard on the radio/were told by a friend etc, then whypostabout the game harry. keep your comments to yourself and those who went. because I and cg could not possibly be allowed to read it should we dare to form an opinion based on it. shocking

Thanks for the testimonial Paul, er Harry. But can you elaborate please?

As someone who attends all away games you can't possibly hear what I have to say during commentaries unless you are cradling a laptop with a wireless connection to the net.

Which particular bit of what you don't hear is unreliable?

We are always keen to improve our coverage so your comments will be most welcome.

Your right that would be Ludicrous. It's simple Gary, if you haven't seen the performance you can not comment on it.

I'm not saying your commentaries aren't reliable Chas but I don't see how someone can base their opinion of the game based on what they've heard on the radio. It's all about opinions, one bloke could see it go one way someone else could see it go another. Yesterday some old bloke was really slagging off Peter Hawkins and giving him stick, I on the other hand thought he had a superb game and was man of the match.

Every time I have listened to your commentaries Chas I have enjoyed them but I haven't done so since we relegated Farnborough (the last game I missed) at the end of 2004-2005. I can't comment on them as I don't listen to them.

How many times have you read on hear that one of the players had a terrible/brilliant game only to totally disagree with what has been said. It's just about you saying 2Oh it's the big hoof again" the big hoof can be very effective if used properly as we saw for Sodjes goal against the same opposition last month. No one can comment on individual or team performances if they didn't see the game.

Also how many times have you listened to Five Lives 606 for some bloke to ring up and Say "I didn't see the game today, I heard it on the radio..."

Of course he wasn't - anyone can post general opinions on here about the team. However, if one hasn't attended the game in question, one can't make credible specific comments about that particular performance - like this, on another thread:

Quote:
Chatham Gary said:Didn't see or hear the game, but I have a feeling that this was another hoof and rush, route one spectacle, the likes of which were played over and over again last year.

What's the point of posting this? It adds nothing to the debate.

To be fair, a major contributory factor to yesterday's defeat was probably the fact that our team is currently unsettled, with personnel changes occurring every week, rather than the formation change. In the long run, 4-4-2 makes more sense, because it means we can actually play people in their correct positions - with the exception of the right wing, which can only be fully resolved if Anderson, our only natural right-sided attacking player, is able to force his way into the team and prove his worth.

It's not difficult to see the importance of having a settled side. Our best form both this season and last has come near the beginning, when the team was virtually the same every week.

As your number one fan Lord Chas and someone who rarely goes to away games and so spends many Saturday afternoons hanging on your every word maybe I could give Harry a hand on this one.

The particular bit that Harry didn't hear which I believe was unreliable was in a recent away match (Morecombe I believe)you informed us that their keeper was a 'good looking bloke'.
I am as broad minded as the next man, if you enjoy 'blowing a pink oboe' it is no skin off my nose, and of course you are entitled to your opinion but if we wanted to hear that kind of talk at the footie we would surely have Doris commentators.
