Staines Town Res 1 - 0 Windsor & Eton Res

Despite the scoreline WEFC Res put on another great performance and deserved to at least go into a penalty shoot-out decider.

A couple of new faces in the squad included Tim Kilpatrick and Marien Ifura from Brunnel University and Dave Tilbury, Stuart Tanfield, Andy Cook, Chris Cahill and Jon Case from the first team.

An unfortunate slip by keeper Kilpatrick gifted Staines their lead late in the first half despite the Windsor defence shuting out Staines with a dominant display.

Windsor came close late on when Case had an effort well saved and Tanfield hit wide.

Team:- Kilpatrick, Spellman (Edwards), Tilbury, Ifura, T Woodcraft, Wickson (J Woodcraft), Cook, Cahill, S Tanfield, Maqsood, J Case.

Unsed Subs:- D Case, J Tanfield, J Hempstead.

Was you watching the same game as me!

Windsor had a lone striker in Jon Case and kept pumping up long balls to him. He didn't get enough support from his teamates.

The best result should have been 0-0!

Jon was the plus of the night and looks like he's getting back to full fitness.

The referee and linesmen where a joke all night and gave some very poor decisions both ways.

The keeper was a tad unlucky with the goal.

There could have been 2 sendings off.

One for the push in the face and the other for a professional foul.

From a management point of view, this is our report (with apologies to Mal for nicking some of his words):

WEFC included debutants Tim Kilpatrick and Marien Ifura from Brunel University, and Dave Tilbury, Stuart Tanfield, Andy Cook, Chris Cahill and Jon Case from the first team also joined the squad.

Windsor defended extremely well for the whole game, and only conceded when keeper Kilpatrick lost his footing as he came to collect a long ball over the top of the defence, giving a Staines striker a simple job of putting them 1 - 0 up after 30 minutes. After that, Staines were restricted to only a handful of opportunities but, unfortunately, the same was true at the other end as Windsor failed to create many clear-cut chances, although they came close late on when Case had an effort well saved and Tanfield hit wide.

The team played some nice football at times without posing too much threat to the Staines goal. The back four were excellent with 'Mazza' Ifura outstanding on his debut. The first team players all got 90 minutes under their belt, and performed well.
