There has been a lot mentioned recentley about the quality of refs at both ESL and top level. An observation from watching last night's Sarfend game on the box.

 

Uriah "heep" Rennie took (in my opinion)his powers a little too far last night whne he book Flahavan for time wasting.

 

Flahavan had apparently been signalling to the bench for some 5 mins that he need a replacement screw in stud in one of his boots. When the ball finally went out of play the trainer came on to attend to the situation. It appeared that the trainer was having a little diffculty in swopping the stud over. Rennie who was 20 odd yards away interpreted this as time wasting and booked Flahavan.

 

a) Rennie should have attended the incident before making an assumption it was time wasting

 

b)If there was time wasting it might have been perpetrated by the trainer at not Flahavan so why assume the goalie was the guilty party

 

c)The ref had stopped the clock anyway so Southend had nothing to gain.
