Hertford v Berkhamsted abandoned at half time

Recommended Posts

The Herts Senior Cup tie, switched to Hertford because of floodlight problems at Berko was abandoned at half time with the score 1-0 to Hertford, because the dressing rooms were robbed during the game. When the players phoned their stolen mobiles, some kids answered and taunted them.

No-one will be surprised to learn that the police declined to attend! "It would take up a lot of time, it's much quicker if those who have had things stolen phone in individually" !!!

Uncle - I don't appreciate your smartarse advice! Are you familiar with the layout of our dressing rooms, do you know anything about what happened? Most of the players of both sides had their valuables safely in the valuables bags - those who lost things couldn't be arsed to put them in there.

I don't fckn care what you do or don't appreciate......it matters little to me as our players do not have to suffer what yours did......

and if you post on a public forum (yes public) you expect surely to get replies..I gave one and it was good advice.....in future let the thieves win....just the sort of comment I would actually expect to be honest....self righteous indignation with no acceptance of responsibility...

all coming to a non league ground near you shortly...

So you do have an official standing guarding the dressing rooms throughout the game then, do you?

yes we do at all times...and all the different doors to those changing rooms (only one entrance) are closed and locked as the players leave and unlocked when they return...we also have a safe in the home dressing room and have ordered another for the away dressing room....

smart [****!!****] or not I fckn hate thieves and nowt gets nicked from our changing rooms...if it does its another player from the same team.....or the offical (and in our case there is no chance of that)....I was trying to help you understand that this will always happen if allowed to and it is your/our/all of our responsibility to ensure that it doesn't...I don't agree with the comment about players looking after their own goods...how can they when they are on the pitch playing.....they need to be able to trust someone...

rant over...it pi55es me off when clubs allow this and do not accept the responsibility that they should accept when hosting a game of football.....apologies if I offended you

Horace - For once I am with you on this for what it's worth, Haringey recently had a break in during a game with Edgware Town as did Biggleswade United and it is not as easy as all that to combat even with someone watching the dressing rooms like a hawk.

This is probably the worst post ever grammatically on this forum! (I don't think Hope has posted?)

Hertford didn't postpone the match - the referee abandoned it because the Berko players were very upset.

I don't think they will ever be caught Gav. The only police you see nowadays have got speed guns in their hands.

Very true, I live within sight of the OB college at Hendon (its in Colidale) and you never see any OB round here, You do however hear them speeding up and down the road. I am sure they are just doing training when they go full blast down the road with sirens blazing.
