Full Timers?

This is starting to make my blood boil and in my opinion is becoming an excuse for supporters to hide behind the fact they are just poor losers.

A comment of the Folkestone forum metions that we are have a full time squad of players. Fair enough. We can put that down to a (wrong) opinion BUT when a photo (or several photo's) have a caption of "So and so" beating the Billericay full time defender, you wonder at the mentality of these people. I suppose it would be that they will find any excuse to paper over the fact that they were beaten by a better organised team (and club) who compete at their level.

They do seen very disappointed at the loss reading the forum. A good win for Riccay as I have said......The photos with certain comments were disrespectful.

Extremely sad they are having to release players after each match don't you think??? Can understand the frustration. Perhaps they really needed the win more then you did in Financial terms????

chaps lets be realistic about saturday. If you were a folkestone fan you would say that you got mugged to a late goal. If your a billericay fan you would have been more than happy to have taken the reply once we got back to 2-2.

We had a shocking first half and some of that was down to folkestone making us play the game their way. We dont watch them every week, that could have been them playing well.

Second half we were better but we were not great, the result however was superb. If any folkestone fan feels a bit dissapointed then I can sympathise a little (not too much though as its a nice change that we get a last min winner!).

Clearly they needed that win to keep hold of a few players too.

This business about them harping on about full time players is all good and well, but they are only commenting on info they have been fed. Its a little odd how nearly every other club thinks we are full time. Maybe, and I am guessing here, at some point in the past the wrong info was given out? Im sure I recall our local free rag even suggested we were full time too.

I certainly wouldn't say they were mugged by the late goal. Our performance in the second half was very good, despite our dire first half performance.

And I certainly haven't heard anyone at the club describe us as full time...It must the work of the "little pixies"...damn them.

Of course your right Martin it doesn't, but, if the opposing players believe we're full time, it will increase their motivation and determination when playing us..

I think that’s why so many clubs choose to leave us with a full time tag.

I'm sure managers do use it to motivate there players, (we might say 'the oppo think we are a full time team, go out and show them what a full time can do'), I just don't think a supporter on a forum or a picture on the internet saying we are full time makes any difference at all.

Maybe Martin, but it was claimed in the Folkstone program, and official web site that we were full time.

Would you agree that player motivation and their mental state of mind are key factors in winning football matches?

Do you think that Southend will give a better performance than the norm when they play Manchester utd?

Will Tilly say to them, just go out and play your normal game and that should be good enough?.

Of course I'm not likening us to MU, I respect your opinion and except that you may be right. I'm just saying that, I M O, if a team believes they are playing an opposition that is better, by either the use of a large budget, or full time training, then they (the opposition) will raise their game.

Perhaps thats why certain teams choose to tag us as full time.

its an interesting topic though.

Okay, this looks as if it's a pop at me as I posted the original thread.

My opinion is that it does make a difference. We don't go round posting pictures with "weighted" comments under them. When Simon (or Ryan) post a report on the official web site, they report it dry (or try to). There are no "back handed" comments about "full time" or otherwise. The captions under the photo's are also "dry". The comment or comments in question on the Folkestone site just sound like poor losers. Ok, that's no concern of mine or this clubs but and read the original post please, whatever comments anyone wishes to make on a forum, be it full time, part time or no time is an opinion and therefore open to discussion. My point was, the "full time" caption on the photo which was from an "official" source.

Apologies for being cantankerous over this but it was just a small rant.

Having thought about it more, and having some sympathy for the position that Folkstone find themselves in, I think that the caption post match was probably put there to help their fans remain hopeful. If so, then there is nothing wrong with that, and good luck to them.

Well spotted Martin…I got their in the end.. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
