I actually think it was, although (spector,i think it was him) got the ball,he also went right through the man.

please don't think this is an arguement that arsenal could of won the game coz its not,i would just like to think what you lot think???

it wasn't a penalty - the referees decision is final. Unusualy favouring the smaller team.

It doesn't change anything, West Ham won't go down, too good and Arsenal won't qualify for the Champions League, not good enough.

p.s. for the record Ipswich will be mid table, all they deserve.

Why can`t their be a free kick when the man plays the ball first.I have lost count over the years when i have seen a defender make a fantastic clearance and carry on through with the tackle smashing the forward about six feet in the air.Are we saying that is not a foul then?

No it's not a foul. Even if they ended up taking the man out afterwards, they got the ball.

If it became a foul to hurt a player after the ball had been won i.e. "smashing the forward about six feet in the air" the game would be decend into madness.

Think about how much diving is a problem now, if the law changed it would get even worse. It would be even more of a "pansies" game, as the egg chacers call it.
