Edgware's wings clipped by the Jets

Recommended Posts

Edgware dropped two points today at Oxhey, in an awful game. The ptich has to be the worst in the league, and frankly its a disgrace, no wonder they were threated with being thrown out by the SSML earlier in the season.

Edgware had the best chances of the match, but lacked any real bite in front of goal. On the plus side, Rob Blackburne served his one match suspension and our reserve keeper kept a clean sheet. We have most of players back from injury and come the end of the season this could be seen as a useful point picked up rather then two dropped.

The pitch looks to have improved since we were there Gav.

I hate to have seen what it was like then. Did you think that the home support was a bit lairy when you played them?

Yeah, they had a group of 'oldies' who were very vocal, not sure if they are parents of players of what. The fact they stand on what is called 'Moaners Mount' is very apt.

Nice clubhouse, if you get pat the chavs. Is Oxhey ad good or bad area?

I think South Oxhey where the ground is has a bit of a reputation so to speak.

Did you like my title, wings clipped by jets, and on my blog, Edgware grounde by jets, you get it jets, planes....ok I'll get my coat <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Why are they called the Jets? I hardly saw a plane fly over all afternoon. They sound more like an American footbal team, ie New York Jets,

I will refer you to my original thread of "club by club" as I think it sums Oxhey up quite well.
Some of my comments on there probably need updating based on the season so far, but I have now been there and see no reason to change my view on them.

Looking at your photos, the pitch is sooo much better now, our game should never have been played.

They had a bigger crowd than you did when you played the top of the league side recently!

..
I see the crowd is down as 81, about right, not a bad turn out at Oxhey. Of those I would say a good 30 or so were Edgware fans!

Still, if you add it to Harefield's gate today, it just about adds up to our crowd this afternoon!

You may have the big crowds in the divison, but what good is it if you cant win in front of them? Your home form is poor, and todays result proves that, again you were two goals up and blew it.

We beat BB with ten men a left back in goal and away!

You have lost more ground on us and Leverstock today

er...ok you are still 3pts behind us, but you are now 5pts behind the leaders Leverstock. We have three games in hand over you. We have played 12 league games, 8 of which have come away, so we have 4 home games to make up.

I still think its going to be Hertford up there along with us, but I think Leverstock are serious challangers, it's when their squad gets injures and suspensions that it will tell how good they are. I dont think they have the depth to their squad that we do, in fact I know they dont.

So they have an ex Ruislip contingent? did they sign the others in pre season? I think they will be able to attract some players with if they stay top, BUT, as I posted elsewhere they WONT be allowed to go up with their ground in it's present state.

They dont even have a proper seating stand, we had to use a bench and pull it towards the pitch when we were there. They have no cover on three sides of the ground, and they have cars parked INSIDE behind the goal and the sie. There is NO WAY either the southern or the Isthmian league will allow them in. They wont be able to do the improvements to the ground in time if they did it would cost them thousands.

This has to be be a downer for the players, as they know that even if they won the league they would not be able to make that step up. Leverstock would then lose the majority of thier squad to other clubs (hemel hempstead being down the road) and they would struggle next season.
