Do you work in my office and have you just been listening to me?

Just found out one of my players got sent off couple of weeks back on a Sunday. 35 day ban, i'm not ruddy happy

Not much you can do though when you're not paying them.

But please lads, be sensible, just don't give your own bloody name*

*i never said that right!

This is all fine until you get involved in a booking and the referee happens to know EXACTLY who you are.

It happened in Sunday football near here a few years back and the player concerned got a seasons ban from Surrey FA ! The fine was pretty steep as well.

Ok basically I will explain what happened...

Referee was being assessed, so being a busy kent (Hi Krooner )

70th minute, one of our players make a tackle, clean, he gives a free-kick, I werent happy (we were losing 1-0), so i screamed...;

"argh come on ref... are you pissed?!"

and he sent me off for foul and abusive language...

I think I have a good case, as there was swearing going on through-out @ the referee... I feel I was made a scapegoat...

If those were the exact words and you hadn't been cautioned prior to the incident, I don't think under the letter of the law, it was a red card ! Even a yellow card for the word p1ssed seems dubious, HOWEVER, a yellow for dissent, POSSIBLY.

I would like to see the exact wording on the referee's report.

However, FA appeals boards can be very funny places. Half the time, the old codgers nod off half way through. (Oh, its so nice to be able to say that these days !)

The wording is abusive. Very ambigious. Saying that to one person may well be classed as abusive.

To be honest, IF those were the exact words without any actual swear words, (p1ssed ISN'T a swear word), I would have taken the player well away to one side and read the riot act without a card.

A red card for that sort of incident would probably inflame the situation further on in the game.

I'll bet the referee was a fairly new one, and trying to make a name for himself.

I always remember the words of wisdom. 'Firm but fair and always with a smile on your face. It's the only way to earn respect.'
