Gate making errors in defence again. Have had 80% of the game too according to Barry the Barber who is at the game.Their keeper has made a few good saves in the second half.Come on,wheres that late equaliser.

Lets bring them back here.8 minutes or so left to play.

Other latest: AFC Sudbury 2 Ramsgate 0

All over. Full-Time: Gloucester 1 Margate 0

Apparently we should have won the game...but we didnt! Didnt take our chances it seems.Oh well, sad as it may be I'm not THAT dissappointed. The league now. Full commitment to that from hereon.A loss of points in the league from now on WILL upset me. Time to pull in another defender to shore up that defence once & for all for those league games I think.

True, but still a setback going out of both cups so early particularly from a financial point of view for the club. Two of the 3 objectives KP outlined for the season, decent runs in the major cup competitions already gone so it would seem its promotion or bust for Trotty now. We still have the KSC in midweek but I hope many fringe and reserve players get a run out at VCD as the Hampton game is more important next Saturday.

Personally, i think it is nothing short of a disaster and mega disappointing that we are out of two cups.

i reckon there will be a huge financial strain(don't forget that we have a reserve side to fund this season aswell ).

I anticipate some players leaving and thus us going on an inward spiral leading to fewer league points won, and falling crowds-just like last season.

Cup progress is in my view so essential to compliment the league progression-and not just financially.

Hope i am wrong, but its a almost a case of 'thats it for another season then'.

"Thats it for another season". Come on Michael. I'm surprised at you & your negativity here. This is defeatest talk!

YES its a shame we havent progressed as we would have hoped in these competitions(3 if you include the league cup)but its gone now. Time now to put it behind us & as that great man (Chris Kinnear) used to say "We just have to get on with it".

Yes,the dosh was very important as I am sure the club are feeling the pinch at the moment. But its gone now,we are out!

We STILL have our MAIN objective to go for & thats more important than all those cups (money aside). The League is the thing we should now be focusing on. Trotty needs to get a decent central defender in NOW. Not just TALK anymore about getting one.If the moneys tight then somehow, somewhere,we have to sign somebody that CAN assist our challenge for promotion. Easy for me to say I know but we really do need that addition NOW! Not when its too late.

We have everything to play for now & it may well turnout to be to our advantage in the end. We gave it our best(though I and some others may disagree with that) in the cups but it wasnt to be. Time now to get over it & concentrate 101% on the league.

Its certainly not IT for the season. We have everything still to play for.

Not giving up on the support in anyway, but just so disappointed -and angered-that we do not proceed further in the cups.

(admiitedly yesterday was always going to be a tough game so no criticism there )

The real disappointment comes with a business head on that says one way or another-this costs -and it could thus lead to a lack of 'success ' in the league aswell.

The core 450 or so supporters will no doubt keep on turning out, but what about the other 250 needed through the turnstiles to bring in an additional £2K every two weeks.

As weather gets colder and the hype of the cup disappears, the floating supporter does not attend so much,so crowds drop, funds fall, thus players are released, so team form drops so crowds drop further and you go on an inward spiral.

Thats why the cups are so important.

Hope i'm wrong but i fear the worst.

Up the 'Gate

I would normaly be on a downer right now, but from what i saw yesterday. We were totaly on top (bar the last 20 mins, even) feel sorry for the lads. Back to the passing we saw at the start of the season. Like Cookie says its now all or nothing. Trotty has to give it his all its OUR last chance playoff a must come on gate. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" />

just got back from weekend away , shame about the game , was going to be hard but never mind lets get the league sorted this year , trophys galore next season , money would have been a great help but lets use this situation to our advantage with clubs around us still in cups , gives us a chance to cement ourselves into a top 6 place and work to keep that elusive playoff spot we all want .We may not win a cup this season but by keeping up with the top lot could be our way of coaxing other players along to the club who would love a go at a promotion push with Margate.Up the Gate.

CE - i disagree.

To my mind every £ is needed.

You get revenue through 2/3 extra games(gate money is split).Bar revenue if you get a home game.

Maybe , just maybe we would have got Oxford away if we had won two more games-a crowd of 4500,and thus gate revenue of about £20000.

Above all, you keep interest/profile up so the floating supporter continues to come to the league matches and attendances keep at around 600/700 for the league games, whilst i fear now they will quickly tumble to below 500

they could stay around the 6-700 mark but only if we are pushing for promotion which is a must now as we are in no proper cup competitions anymore, dare i say this though money isn`t always the answer ( it helps ) but take a look at Ramsgate the clubs run on a quarter of the budget we`ve got and they are doing things we should be doing , that hurt to wright but in a way its true .
