Dunstable

8 changes from Saturday's team, defensively poor, below average in midfield but still lively up front. 1-0 down after 4 mins, 2-0 after 58, Ben scored with about 8 minutes left. Case came on for the last 20 minutes or so and looked very sharp, no lack of pace and not frightened to get stuck in.

Plus points - Case's return, no future midweek trip to somewhere hundreds of miles away!

Minus points - Squad players looked rusty, overall unbeaten run comes to a halt [it's league games that really count though!] and the appalling language from the visitor's bench which will do absolutely nothing to encourage people to watch non-league football as you could hear it clearly all around the ground.

Dunstable weren't a bad side but wouldn't have coped with a full-strength team against them and the manner in which they celebrated proves that word is getting around about our own abilities and teams are worrying about us.

We were very weak and vulnerable on the left hand side, but slightly improved when Edge came on mid-second half.

Iain Gardner in goal had an atrocious first 20 minutes, then played a blinder for the rest of the match stopping at least 3 clear cut chances.

Dunstable's first goal was embarrasing, but their 2nd was a powerful header and near unstoppable.

Overall Dunstable were rubbish, and on our current form would have a got a right pasting if the regular team had played, but on the night them winning 2-1 was probably a fair result.

Let's not be too critical, chaps!

Of course it's a shame that our unbeaten run has ended, and it's hardly surprising we didn't play to our usual very high standard with eight changes to the starting eleven. Still, I think we can take a lot of plus points from the game:

In the first place, 1-2 probably was a fair result but we created plenty of chances and might easily have snatched at least a draw.

Also, the game showed we have great strength in depth, something we have lacked in recent years.

Finally, the team spirit was still there. Even two goals down none of the players on the pitch ever lost faith. I felt so elated at the end of the game, I had to keep reminding myself we had lost!

Thought Case looked good and back to his old self. Another option!! 2-1 was a fair scoreline in the end as SiD says we created many many chances that another day would of gone in! Cannot wait for tommorow and i've got a feeling we'll give them a Fight.

Well said woody, good to see jonny back again - was a threat when he came on.

As, woody said, i think we have a very good chance of turning hampton over tomorrow, so lets be vocal, loud and cheer this team on to another win in the trophy.

V is for Victory!
