Dual Registrations

Last night at powerleague Martin raised a very good point when I mentioned dual registrations. Why don't we have them with Windsor & Eton?

For those who don't know dual registrations allow a player from one league i.e from a Ryman League club to also sign forms for a Southern league club.

Matt Seedel has done this with Hampton & Windsor. Basically when Hampton don't need him he plays for Windsor and this I guess saves both sides money on wages for the player as you pay him when he plays for your team.

Other examples include Yiadam Yeboah from Hampton - Northwood, Andy Cook Hampton - Northwood (though now at Windsor) and Rob Bullivant from Northwood - Hampton, which was great for Hampton as they had no cover when they lost Matt Lovett in the play-off's at the time.

Would it not be an idea to do this with Windsor. A number of their promising reserve team players/fringe players could get first-team experience if we were looking for players? Plus we could have a dual registration on a reserve team keeper saving both clubs money? Of course hopefully they would not be needed, but in a situation where we find ourselves in now with so many injuries, or an injury to Kieran Drake why don't we have this in place?

No offence but i'm not sure any slough fringe players are good enough to get into the side we have at the moment! Seeing as we are doing pretty well it would make no sense for us. Also Seedel has so far not missed a windsor game due to hampton 'wanting' him i think. It's pretty much a 'loan' deal just under a different name!

I don't think Chris meant exclusively with Windsor. Given that Drake could probably do with a break it may have been sensible to have John Beames on dual registration with SYCOB. But then I don't run the club and clearly have no idea of what is going on or how things should be done.

It would be more that we want the players from you Woody. We have an incredible injury crisis at the moment and could have done with two of your reserves (or players who would just not have made your first team bench) on Saturday. It would give them a chance to impress and we could have paid them for that week saving you some money. It would be better to give them a proper run out rather than resting them or leaving them playing reserve team football. Would then benefit both clubs regardless of whether you would ever need any of our players.

Woody, Seedel has been recalled once when we played in the league cup over at Hanwell, but this was more of a proper loan than a dual registration just to get a couple of games in.

Mal316 is right in that Matt came back to us for a one-off game - again because of Hampton's injuries and player unavailability.

Not sure how it stands for Saturday as I'm sure Matt wouldn't feature for Hampton but wouldn't want him playing against us.

Heard rumour that dual registration will not be allowed next season - don't know if true. Dual registration helps Hampton as we don't have a reserve team - so keeps squad players not in the 1st team match fit.

However next season plans are to run a reserve team so probably wouldn't use dual registrations then if still in place.

Think it would be a sound idea for Slough if you can pick up useful players who are not getting a regular game.
