Mighty Brentwood Reserves!!!

Recommended Posts

Brentwood Ressies recorded a remarkable victory against a young Ilford side, having been 2-0 down at half time they powered back to win 3-2. Brentwood, by their own admission, were well below par in the first half and with Ilford winning their last five games, they knew it would be a tough battle against jubilent opponents. It was Ilford who scored two goals in quick succession midway through the first half which severly rocked Brentwoods core. Had it not been for James Redwood in the Brentwood goal the scoreline could have been far worse but instead it was 2-0 as the players trudged off into the dressing rooms for half time. As the players emerged for the second half it was apparent that Brentwood had had to change things. Redwood was forced to sit out the second half due a finger injury that was picked up during the warm up. Considering this, his first half performance was full of bravery, playing through the pain without any complaints. So, it was left for Brentwood striker David Brewington to fill in between the sticks. And what a fine job he did too. Commanding his box and shouting out the orders he displayed some great goalkeeping skills. Brentwood dominated the aerial battles and the second half was full of opportunities. Close range finishes from Jimmy Noakes and Callum Foley brought the scores level at 2-2 and with 83 minutes on the clock, player-manager Dave Stittle broke the back line and struck a fierce drive across the Ilford goalkeeper which nestled nicely in the corner. Great Spirit by all the Blues.
