as a watcher of non league football you were outplayed by a good side. you missed healesy and jj in my opinion. you could have been there all day and not scored. the only chance you had fell to your 16 year old left back who was up front

i think JJ is a nasty c-unit on the pitch and would have made mr cowley a little more uncomfortable and not let him run the show as he did.

thomas is dynamite and had bags of pace. which caused problems.

i think gareth thomas should be a marker in a back 3 and not a sweeper.

however your main downfall was a typical trait of a young side (as we did it loads of times at burnham over the years) - and the trait is concentration. what i mean is that you concede a goal after 30 seconds and another 30 seconds after half time.

those 2 goals made brentwoods life so mucvh easier. if they would have had to work harder for those goals they would have been a lot less comfortable.

i didnt see the 'knee' but i was 20 minutes late as we had training and didnt finish til nearly 3

was well over 100

sixy,

thought you was about the only concord player to have an ok game.

is harty a regular? or filling in for healsey.

sean thomas looked decent as did golby and kingy, not that they had to much to do. thoght the first penalty was harsh, justice was done with the save.

heres the bentwood slant on the game,BRENTWOOD TOWN 4 CONCORD RANGERS 0

Match report by John Benstead

“That was our best performance of the season,” were the words of Steve Witherspoon as Brentwood recorded their seventh consecutive league win and their second 4-0 win within the space of seven days.

The bumper crowd at the Brentwood Arena didn’t have to wait long to see the first goal of the game, 48 seconds to be precise. Striker Sean Thomas had won his side a corner directly from the kick off. Greg Tiffin took it and found the head of defender Steve King, who found the bottom corner of the net.

Lee Noble nearly doubled the lead on six minutes, though his shot was superbly saved by Grant Lee in the Concord goal. Sean Thomas then saw a header scrambled off the line by two defenders from the subsequent corner.

On 20 minutes Carl Griffiths crossed the ball in from the left, Thomas challenged the 'keeper, who fumbled the cross into the path of debutant Donovan Wilson, who smashed the ball home. However, the goal was disallowed as the linesman had harshly flagged for a foul on the 'keeper.

The impressive King, Griffiths and Noble all saw attempts miss the target after this and Concord went in at half time lucky to be only one down.

Captain Nicky Cowley set up his side’s second almost immediately after the restart. His ball over the top was well controlled by Thomas, who rounded the 'keeper and slotted home coolly.

The Blues were then awarded a penalty on 56 minutes. The visitors could only half clear a corner and the ball broke to King, who was then fouled. Visiting defender Gary Ogilvie was booked for his protestations. Carl Griffiths took the kick, only to see it well saved by Lee.

The Welsh striker then played a good one - two with Cowley on the edge of the box, though he fired over from a good position. Left back Kevin Marsden then saw a fierce shot from the edge of the box go narrowly wide on 72 minutes.

Town added to their lead eight minutes later. Good work from Noble on the left wing meant he found space to cross low into the box. Thomas dinked the ball over the 'keeper, though his effort was cleared off the goal line. However, Thomas smashed home the rebound from close range to score his seventh goal in three games.

Brentwood skipper Cowley completed the scoring on 82 minutes. Striker Thomas, a constant thorn in the side to Concord, had twisted and turned in the box and was eventually fouled. Cowley sent the 'keeper the wrong way from the spot to ensure his team remain top of the Essex Senior League Table.

Boss Witherspoon was in a buoyant mood after the final whistle: “It was a great performance, I’m chuffed with the lads” he said. “We looked solid at the back, were inventive in midfield and the pace of Sean upfront gives us another dimension.” He added. Witherspoon was also full of praise for debutant Wilson: “Donovan came in and played well for us” he said.

Brentwood Town: Hardingham, King, Marsden, Dennis, Golby, Tiffin (Davies), Wilson (Jones), Cowley (Capt), Thomas, Griffiths (Holmes), Noble
