Three games seen/Two were no-nos and one positive

Watched two games on the tele and one live over the weekend.

Spurs V Watford and the Spurs players are still on the pitch waiting for the ball to come down.

West Ham V Blackburn where West Ham were rescued by a 40 year old and Blackburn claim they did not play well as Robbie Savage couldn’t play!!

CIFC v Bury was the live game and would you believe it CIFC have learnt how to fight, how to stay together as a team for 90 minutes and with a bit of luck could have gained all three points.

If we could afford a natural box striker there is every possibility we could move smartly up the league.

I agree Pabird, if we were to get a natural finisher at this club, we would soon see us move up that table.

Thats not to say that our strikers are not not good enough because they are, i dont think u'll find harder working strikers than ours and they do know where the goal is but they do lack that fine cutting edge infront of goal on occasions, Leon, Ruggy and Curran are all young and that will all come with more experiance.

As for the defence, well let John & Gary worry about that as only they know who they want to bring in & if & when they do, lets hope it will benefit the team.

I dont know why but when Leon is playing most of the players seem to give him a hard time, i cannot see why as he is the top goalscorer, also the team has to stop arguing with each other, this is meant to be team, if you keep picking on each other, then morale is going to get from bad to worse. I was quite surprised blewer wasnt on the pitch on saturday, i think he is one of our better defenders and also gets up the field to create chances.

I think all areas of the pitch have their moments and thats what leads to some of our inconsistency.

When we manage to score goals we give away sloppy goals at the other end. When the defence battle hard for everything we sometimes fail to take chances in front of goal.

Not sure about the point regarding arguing. On occassions it may appear that way but I think there is also a lot of shouting because of more experienced players barking out instructions to the youngsters. I also think the players can sense the frustration felt by the fans on the terraces and can feel the pressure. A lot of the goals we have conceeded have been down to individual errors rather than problems with our back three or four.

I am concerned with our success rate up front - and agree that you can't ask for a pair of strikers who have so much power and energy like Curran and Rugg. I'd be interested to hear what they feel and where they think improvements could be made. I also thought that Leon was down as a midfield/forward rather than an out and out striker.

I'd also be interested to see who Batchy is looking at bringing in and in what positions he feels need to be strengthened. It's a bit like our first season in the Conference - it was easy to blame the defence but I also felt that we struggled in other areas and showed our tactical ignorance by playing three at the back when everyone else played four.

Some of the best team teams argue all the game and socialise after the final whistle.

The problem is the committed winners in mentality who are usually very serious when the game is live.

A few wins will bring it back to acceptable levels.

As for the strikers our problem is in technique where our present two are both receivers who hold the ball for others to run off and only take their own strike (normally) when the ball runs kindly.

What we need is a selfish box player to run off of one of those ball holders and then by instinct create half a yard of shooting space and and be normally on target.

He stands next to the dug-out at most games, can`t see him playing anytime soon as his leg was in a cast Saturday <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Good observation Pabird and probably why Leon is our leading scorer. The problem is probably getting a recognised striker at this level with a proven track record as they'll be highly sort after. I'm no expert but would imagine they are not two a penny and at this level make the difference between an also ran and a title winning side.

as fans we might be treating each game with the wrong attitude. everyone went very quiet on Saturday after about 10 minutes and then finally found their voices again once it went to 2-1. we seem to have the attitude of fans that have dropped a few levels (I know we have) we should be treating it as newly promoted, cheering every last second appreciate every point we pick up. For a vast majority of our team this is a promotion and I think we should be like we were when we first broke into the conference. Enjoy the adventure.

Believe he had his final operation on his ankle last week which is why he's in plaster. Have heard some very good things about him so hopefully he is what we are missing upfront.

Had a good scoring record at this level with Aveley and then moved on to Chelmsford. Think he will score goals if given the chance.

ken,i think also that a problem with atmosphere may also be linked to the fact that there are much fewer away fans that visit you and in some games when you go away there are little or no home fans either.
