teflon - Bookham 1 ash 4

Recommended Posts

Pitch held up well yesterday. You wouldnt think 2 senior teams played on there each week. Still find it hard to believe Dorking have played at a higher level looking at the ground. Thought the surrounds of the ground and the changing rooms were looking extremely tired and tatty.

Bookham gave it a good go. Got some good team spirit. Good luck for the rest of the season. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

Yes Kroons I was there,

Well done JJ, thought at time Ash gave us a good lesson and something we can learn from, also thought we played well at times and it could have been interesting if we had not hit the bar at 2-1 but the better side won so no complaints.

Problem with Dorking is for the last few years there has been talk of redeveloping the town and using Meadowbank as the site compound so unitl that is resolved they are reluctant to throw money away.

bookham did play well. First 10 mins started like a team posessed and possibly should have taken the lead. 2nd half changed formation which worked for bookham and the crossbar did come to our rescue but after the early scare we settled down and played some decent football.
I can see Bookham getting out of trouble at the bottom.

Just to elaborate johnnojudo on his comments on Meadowbank and its condition.

Young Teffers is right in what he says about re-development of the Dorking town centre area. Everything is in limbo at the moment. Dear Mr Sainsbury seems hell bent on building a super-dooper store. It will be sighted approximately where the public car park is at present, above and behind the Malthouse pub, which incidently, is due to disappear in a year or so, also courtesy of dear old Mr Sainsbury. Strange thing is, most people of Dorking don't want the soddin' supermarket anyway. I leave you to draw your own conclusions on the fate/state of the Meadowbank ground if this goes ahead. Luvly Mr sainsbury, (Thornfield developers), assure the safety of the ground, but we all know what that could mean.

Yes, the changing rooms, club house and stands ARE looking a little tired. Some work is being carried out all the time but like all small non-league clubs, money is f'kin tight.

Strange as it may seem, I love the clubhouse. Not just for the cheap beer, but an always friendly atmosphere. Something sadly lacking in some other clubs establishments. Teffers would probably be the first to agree. We may share the ground, but the banter and friendship is always good ! (I even go and watch Bookham play from time to time !)
