I agree with just about all the summaries on here as we were really awful.

However I am surprised that no one seems to have commented much on the lack of tactical flexibility we showed.

It was just like last season when we were crying out so often to change things that were not going well and Liam did nothing or reacted too late.

We needed a bit of fight and so it made sense to bring on Sasha who stripped off and then was told to sit down again. I don't know if Macca's injury was a factor but it seemed to occur later.

We brought on Long at half-time that helped but we still seemed to have no shape at all.

We had 5 in midfield but at times there did not seem to anyone there to put in a challenge. The back three did not seem to cope with the movement or pace of their forwards all afternoon and the goal included were all over the place. James Smith had a total mare.

Our forwrds did not have a kick apart from very early on when Charlie should have put his header away.

Where was that bit of tactical change even to go 4-4-2 as we only started to get competative when they started to drop back and took off their forwards after 75 mins?

It seems to be Liam's weakness that he just cannot change things when things are going wrong and only has Plan A.

I know he could not put a bit of bottle in to the players as that is down to them but at halftime they needed a shake up to get them up for a game that clearly collectively that were not at on any level.

This is the second such performance in 3 games and it cannot be repeated too many times before results and gates go in to decline.

There are many times I am proud to wear the shirt but this Saturday was a bad as it gets and I was glad to slope off in injury time to avoid the humiliation of seeing their supporters rightfully celebrate. I shook their Chairman's hand on the way out and said well done as they and we got what was deserved.

Come on Liam lets have a bit of leadership when things get tough.

Liam was forced to bring on Sam for Lance due to injury.

At half time he brought on Stacy for Liam, possibly because of the stupid booking Liam picked up, having already made two substitutions and with us being a goal down I think most people would agree that he had to bring on a forward and that he couldn't do that too soon in case of further injuries.

All I can say is "Woops!"

On friday I was prasing LD, his team selection and tactical ability and then one day later I witnessed one of the most gutless and tactically inept performances I have ever seen from a Fleet side in history!

Heh heh, it's you RR, you put the mockers on the whole thing by being nice about Daish. Everyone should resume their normal positions on whichever side of the fence they're on (or sit on it like me), and then everything'll be back to normal.

I know I'm sorry !

I also wonder whether the lack of pride and passion shown in the past two seasons or so in cups has been down to so few players actually being local guys ?

Seems odd that we can look solid and tight in the league then look [****!!****] against a side only doing averagely two leagues below us ?

I felt the 5-3-2 was a little defensive against a lower league side though, surely we could have played 4-4-2 with Sasha and Keeling playing ?

I actually said it was a good system until other teams suss it out.

Until recently it has served us well.

However, teams like Weymouth, Stafford and now Chelmsford have done their homework, found a way to break down the 3-5-2 and we lost.

A bit simplistic, I know, but it really does look like that.

Teams are so closely matched these days it is the ability to change tactics and formation and outwit the opposition, particularly when a game is at stalemate, that will win games.

Purely out of interest, my favourite line up - which could suit us tactically very well would 4-1-3-2, with Quinn holding, Keeling Debolla and Long ahead of him and Charlie + 1 up front. A bit of an adaptation of 442 but using palyers where they are best suited.

So basically it was a good system until about a month ago when Weymouth sussed it out? A blind man could see that it was not going to work. Ricketts doesn't attack, Keeling doesn't defend. The writing was on the wall from the first minute, you could see it in the players faces.

Yes. Reports from the Chelmsford game would indicate that both he and Luke looked tired.

With a big strong squad pushing for places, no-one, even Charlie, should be in the team automatically.

Whilst I am not a big advocate of team rotation, a couple of changes here and there, for players who are tired will benefit the fringe players who will try that much harder to keep their place.
