MATCH THREAD: Boreham Wood vs Slough Town

Line up was: Drake, Dell, Leach, Bartley, Moleski, Daly, Wilkinson, Mason, Miller, Jasinowski, Lovegrove.

Adam Jasinowski came on, along with Carl Marsh and Luke Ricketts.

Lovers sent off early in the first half and it went downhill from there. The patched up side gave their all and in an 11 v 11 battle it would have been hard enough. For the opener, having seen the video back, the guy dived over a Lovegrove tackle and the ref gave it and booked Lovers. Lovers was then booked for a bad tackle a few minutes later and was sent off.

Never before though have I seen a keeper playing for time when 6-0 down! Did make me chuckle. Nor have I seen a side that has lost 6-0 clapped off. But there we go. Well done to all who went.

Yep, well done and fair play to all that went today, Must say I thought that may happen today, so could not bring myself to do as I thought we had no chance of winning with the players we were able to put out, which all-in-all was pretty much a capital league side. So you guys well done, better supporters than me!

Lets just hope in two-weeks the players will be a lot fresher with niggling injuries over (ie Dell, Wilko, Drake), suspensions over and a couple of long-term injuries back would be nice (ie Woody, Alexis), as with all the players back we have a decent squad, and let not forget that!

Up the Rebels!

Today made Capital League look serious football.

We had boys playing today who have barely started shaving! - however they did make an effort and although he was only on for a short spell Ricketts looked to have some pace and enthusiasum.

This is starting to get embaressing firstly 4-1 to a micky mouse team in the trophy and 6-0 today.

We lost 6-0 to a team who beat big bucks Margate 6-1 not so long ago. Our starting line up looked like cannon fodder and so it proved to be. Still, they deserved to be clapped at the end for giving their all in difficult circumstances, even if their all was way belowe the standard set by Wood.

Two weeks until the next game when it will be get no easier against Heybridge. Davies and Telemaque will be back from suspension if fit.

The players gave their all, but once again we were unable to field a competitive team in a game. It was going to be hard enough (i think most of the visiting rebels were expecting the team to get stuffed) without lovegrove getting (deservedly) sent off. however i did think we had enough at 0-0 and 1-0 down with 11 men to make a semi decent game of it. imo we fell apart after the sending off.

we all knew that today was going to be tough and thats what we got, but it so easily couldve been 12 or so if it wasnt for some comical attacking from boreham wood.

motm for slough had to be matt miller, giving up his man utd season ticket for that mustve seemed like a stupid idea as the goals flew in...but he kept runnning to the end, chasing every ball as a lone striker (and often the only one of our players in the oppo's half) for 70mins or so.

i was very surprised to see the players get such an ovation at the end but when i thought about it i realised it was deserved, they tried so hard but were never going to get anything from the game.

hopefully the return of a few players over the next 2 weeks can help us out in the games v heybridge etc.

up the rebels!!

Unfortunately a few weeks back when Woody asked Slough Physio Kevin McGoldrick if he should see a specialist Kevin said he didn't think it was neccessary but now it seems he's going to have to see one because his knees getting no better.

I'm a bit surprised and disappointed that you never came to the match because you thought we were going to get stuffed. It's at times like this that the team need all the support they can get.

no offence guys but we ain`t big bucks Margate ,we have to get rid of players 1st before we can get anyone else in , the only real reason we`ve got such high profile players is because the boss has a good name and called on his mates to join him at Hartsdown for a new era , some may not say this but not doing to bad job so far apart from bad FA cup run and a hammering at BWood like yourselves . Did`nt go to the game ( glad ) but they were a very quick pacey side that tour us to pieces new are game plan and just got on with it . Seems they done same to you guys as well , keep your chins up we are and its working again for us at mo . Up the Gate.

Yes. Adam was on the bench, whilst Andre started. I was told he is only 16 or 17, could be wrong though.

This was a game we were never going to win. It started going wrong when we went 1-0 down from the spot, and it was pretty much all over after just 16 mins when Lovegrove was sent off. From then on it was damage limitation against a handy Boreham Wood side, and yes, Drake was running the clock down at 6-0 down! Could and should have been double figures. The team we put out was nowhere near competitive and despite lots of running, especially from the likes of Miller and Dell, it was mission impossible, especially with 10 men.

Let's take stock of the situation. Seven certain starters missing, with Dell not fully fit and Drake possibly in a similar position. When they are all fit, we will have a decent team capable of scoring goals. Thankfully our next game isn't til the 11th, so we should have a few players back.
