On the Town Website today it has been announced David Bryant is standing down as Chairman.

5 years is a long time as Chairman and David is to be thanked for all the time he has contributed to our club. He and I regularly crossed swords on all sorts of issues but what was NEVER in doubt was that he loved our club. For me I will remember those freezing cold days when it had poured and David would be down the club on the pitch in wellingtons and that blue anorak forking the pitch to make it playable along with the rest of us fans. In that way his lead by example was inspirational.

I'm sure the new chairman will bring new skills but I hope they will follow David's example in this rerspect and remain first and foremost a fan.

You could be right Gazza , but if we are to progress we need a chairman who has a large chequebook mate . This is why I wont join the society as its obvious a money man has to come in.

I think you have lost the plot. Even if we had a money Man he would only get one vote. That's why ETFC was formed or have you forgotten. We need many more people to join the Society if we are to progress, that's what ETFC is all about.

Oh Ive lost the plot have I , The society needs more members does it ,Do you see people queueing down goldsdown road to sign up ? No disrespects squadron leader but we are hardly in the same bracket as Wimbledon or FC United . We do need to change the way the club is set up at some time ,As I have told you all before I wont join it because I can not see that the current set up is going to take the club forward that much more. If I'm right and I 'm sorry if I'm not ,I think Mr Bryant has realised this and thats why maybe he's stood down.

The reason we need more members is because we are a Fans Owned Club, the more people through the Turnstiles, the more money for the club to get better players & improve the ground & therefore move up the league. We are not in the same bracket as AFC W simply because we don't have the same amount of fans as them.

Dave Bryant has decided simply that it is time for someone else to take the "Helm", he told me that he is still going to be very much involved in the running of the club.

As for the current "Set up" not taking us any further, well they have got us this far & with a few more supporters they can take us further still.

Ive said it before on other threads, I think (and please remember this is a personal opinion) that if we was to get promoted to the Ryman premier (or any other level 3 league) that we would struggle to maintain that status under the current set up, I believe we would need a cash injection from an individual, as far as im concerned as long as the fans hold the majority shares Id be happy, but we certainly cannot look at any conference league without a sugar daddy, unless I win the lottery then I will make a donation of course!

Absolutely. But I would add that there is nothing to prevent any member, or indeed non-member, making as large a donation to the club as they wish. They just don't get the ego trip that some chairpersons seem to be in it for.

Plus, rather than bleating about needing a sugardaddy and not moving forward, how about being that sugar daddy in a small way - just chip in a tenner a month, a fiver even.

I can't see that any Individual would make a large contribution unless they have a fair sized stake in the club , We could end up being square wheeled in some way eventually . And InVis I spend more cash at brimmo during the course of the season than you do mate.

Whilst we are at Brimsdown.Step 3 is probably the highest we can achieve.I believe we can manage to be competative at Step 3 with the set up we have now.

Once(and if) we move to our own stadium. The discussion of whether to allow a moneyman in,becomes more relevant.A moneyman would bring advantages and may be needed to progress, but that should be carefully weighted with the advantages of being supporter owned. No one person should control the destiny and existance of our club.

We need to get the balance dead right,if we allow an individual to own a large percentage of our club (and that should never be more than 50% ,preferably not more than 40%)

We should be very grateful for Dave, his enthusiasm and hard work has been an inspiration. The numpty who want a benefactor should remember why we are who we are and why each member has only one share!

It is obvious that we will not reach great heights without large injection of cash, however the original objective was to have Enfield football palyed in Enfield and to have the fans in control of the club and its future.

Both achieved - well done.

Despite the recent dip in quality, I am happy to watch Town play each week and know that this club is true to its founding traditions. The new chairmanneed to continueon this path.

OOT, it was and is not my intention to start a public contest of who spends most at Brimmo. For one thing it is relative to your income, for another it is entirely voluntary and a personal matter.

Spending at Brimmo is of course welcome and is to be heartily encouraged - but of course does not represent the net profit to the club. Bar takings do not count of course (I do not intend to slur your good name by suggesting any form of over-indulgence, I hasten to add! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />).

But if 300 supporters each gave a tenner a month...... (sighs...)
