What happened to the 20 players,Westy had lined up?

A couple of weeks ago,in the Observer,Mark West said that he had phoned twenty players,of whom, he hoped to acquire, at least, five players to start for Slough.Excluding Terry Davies and Errol Telemaque, who were already here,Matt Miller is the only arrival!Has Martin Deaner pulled the plug on such a move?

Given that we train at the Polish club and have links there and the fact of the huge influx of Polish workers to Slough.Isn't there any opportunity to pick the odd footballer from this community?I'm sure they would be keen and cheap!

This surely wouldn't then affect our thin budget.

Any answers?

Yes, I have answers:

1) I'm lead to believe that Westy spoke to a large number of ex-players we have had over the last couple of years. Many of these ex-players wanted silly money, so it went nowhere.

Also if you look at the squad when it's fully fit we have 18-20 players. We probably can't afford any more!

2) We tried that and had a friendly against a Polish X1 at the start of the season with a 'trialists' X1. Although we lost you would have to say that none of the lot we played were up to Ryman standard. Also a few of my friends play for the Polish Club KS Gryf (even though 95% of them are English!) and none of them would be good enough at this level.
