New Signing

Fat Boy Fat

Regarding our 'other' signing Ty Gooden, a Gravesend fan has been doing their homework and found out that Gooden might be released by Gillingham soon. If he's coming our way, will this make his arrival premature?

From the Gillingham FC website

Adrian Pennock is making his retirement from football (forum)

The joker in the pack and renowned for his antics both on and off the pitch

Something of a cult figure

Equally happy in a two or three man central defence Andy has proved his doubters wrong after suffering a career threatening knee injury at Bournmouth FC where he played 136 games before moving to Gills in Oct.96 for 25K

Captained his side to victory over Wigan in the play-off final in May 2000 but had achillies surgery which ruled him out of opening games in div one

made first team comeback as sub in 4-4 draw V Wimbledon in October and played every other game 2000-2001

Ade was born in Ipswich but commenced career with Norwich before move to Bournmouth FC

He signed new contract March 2001

Also from the Gills website

Ty Gooden

height 5ft 8in

wt 12st 6lb

born Canvey Island

dob 23.10.1972

Ty is a hard working left side mid-fielder who became English footballs first signing of the new millennium news year day 2000 from cash strapped Swindon (£200K plus another player move)

He had been Swindons longest serving player having joined them from W.Wanderers 1993

A diminutive figure Ty is a mid-field dynamo who is capable of scoring spectacular goals, made his debut against Blackpool Jan 2000

Finished the 1999-2000 season in fine style scoring some crucial goals and setting up Andy Thomson for the Wembley winner against Wigan

But a string of unfortunate injuries ruined his 2000-2001 season and he never really managed a decent run in the team

Apparently, in the Gravesend paper it says that he is in negotiations with the club. Wardy is the source of this, as he lives in the area. Maybe he is retiring from league football? He's nicknamed the Bionic Man, because he's had so many injuries!
