The Tour

Hannah - you must really pay attention! We are talking about the 1st section of this years Tour de Fr*nce passing the ground on its way from London to Canterbury. If the bar was open that Sunday (8th July) all the supporters with cycling inclination or those who just want to see it can sup a few bevvies (boosting funds) as the boys pass by. We can raise our profile for the world TV cameras (entrance sign up quick) and we could possibly have our own feeder station so the riders can grap a quick pie or pint of Hirsty Special Strongbow as they zoom past (hope they don`t have a drugs test).

Is the new Club sign above the turnstiles going to be in position by the 8th July? As of last Monday the team playing here remained nameless. If it isn't, there there will be no publicity however fleeting (pun not intended).

Well there is a new sign up, just happens to be a taxi advert for Phoenix (I think.) But as that's new presumably it's only a matter of time till the new sign is manufactured and put up.

Nice one! :-)

According to this, the bar may not even be open though.

So what happened to 24 hour drinking then ? (Not that I am in favour of it !) However, for a special "one off" vis tour de Franglais, surely we can sort something out ? or would that go against President Blair's wishes ??

I recall that pubs were open early in the morning when the world cup was on in Korea. I couldn't really savour a pint at 7 in the morning although I managed to get the hang of it after the first couple. Felt funny being p*ssed by 11.30 am. Couldn't cope with it so went back to sleep...what a waste of a day !

I suppose you could call it "beer lagged" ? Was it was all in the mind ? or all in the bladder !

Cheers,

drinkies

I have volunteered to help out with the Tour de France when it comes to London and the South East to start at the beginning of July. I am required on Sunday 8th and I have to be at the Valley for 6am on the Sunday morning and will then be allocated somewhere on the route to marshall. Looking forward to it, as I have watched it on TV for years and I will probably head into London on the Saturday to watch the Prologue.

Your lucky. I finish a week of nights on the Sunday morning, and we have been told we will be unable to get back to the centre of Chatham that morning.

Bloody expensive waste of money and a damned inconvenience as far as I am concerned, all for about 2 minutes of watching cyclists whizzing past.

Youll have to rename yourslef for the day to

"just outside but hope to get back into Chatham Gary"

I was given a document last wednesday abot my companies plans , contingency at 82 sites, and am on two weeks holiday. SO I wont start my bit of planning until the Monday before. A nightmare. Still , something different to do I guess
