Despite the lack of advertising in the local press, a crowd approaching 300 had assembled by start time on a clear evening with a light mist beginning to rise up from the ground. A very strong Orient reserve side included two first team players in their line up, and they put together some good moves, but Urchins quickly adjusted and Cross and Foyewa began to open up the visiting defence, with Sadler adding some neat touches up front. The opening goal came when the hard working Foyewa made ground through the middle and with Cross waiting out on the right, Amos surprised the defence by playing an excellent pass to Sadler on the other side of the field, and DAVE SADLER ran on to loft an excellent shot over Jennings and into the top corner of the net.

Orient drew level when a cross from the left found BERNARD who scored with a glancing header. Orient pressed strongly after the interval and substitute Zakuani, who had not long been on the pitch, scored with a hard drive from the edge of the area, but Urchins came back strongly, Collins cutting in from the left and sending in a hard shot which skimmed the post. Adam Parker, back after a long term injury, provided an excellent touch out to Foyewa on the right and Parker went close from the cross.

After a period of strong pressure SIMON PARKER ran through well to hit a hard shot past Jennings, and with excitement reaching fever pitch, Garry Cross ran through to slot the ball home, only to be pulled back for a very controversial offside. Orient went close from Pires and Brightley made a good save from Zakuani, and then with three minutes to go RON FLETCHER came in powerfully to net the winner.

I am changing my name to Sad O.

Very dissappointed with Orient. Very happy with the Urchins.

Sorry to correct you dagger but Orient had 6 1st teamers on the pitch.

Saah, Fortune, Keith, McMahon, Barnard and Tudor. The latter having his 1st run out after injury, but was the best of this 6. Barnard could be pleased with his performance as could Jason Demettiou. The rest were average. Of the replacements Zakuani looks promising.

On paper they should have walked all over Hornchurch. Trouble was the match was played on grass.

Just as well Colin kept Mark Janney under wraps.

Well done to all the Urchin boys. Especially after the recent gruelling cup exploits.

They could have been excused for having an off night, but their stamina and commitment show no signs of letting up.

Congratulations on a fine victory.

Ah I see...Tinky Win..what??!!

How dare you.

That night was between you and me only. You have just degraded it like a cheap fling.

I think you just have a complex because I wouldn't let you use the leather and chain set.

Yeah, I was the butch!
