I dont understand Lippiat at the moment he has released Duane Jackman, Mcbean and Simpson now i can understand simpson to a certain extent but Duane jackman looks like a good player hes someone you can bring on when we need pace upfront and changed the game when he came on against dagenham and Mcbean bit suprising as he scored on his debut and only have Matty as a winger? Also at this level you cant keep bringing new faces in like we did quite alot last year because its extremely risky anyones thoughts?

I tend to agree with CisG - Can only assume that LL has some better players lined up.

Given our best XI and decent form I still feel we can get good results against sides in the bottom half of the table.

And is it just me but are the shirts with names taped up just a bit of an embarassment ?

yes definately you could understand it with mcbeen and benyon last week because they signed quite late but a week later and were still in taped up shirts! Every week i come now and dont no what to expect us to get thrashed or us to play good football and get a result unlike last year where it was pretty much a guranteed win! Really hope we beat yeading with 10k to win! we can put that towards some transfers in january

I haven't the faintest idea what goes on in the dressing-room at Clarence Park because I don't know anything about football, but one thing is for sure, I don't picture Colin walking in after the game and saying to three players, "You're no good, son, pack your bags and don't come back"

How about this:

Two weeks ago, player A says "I'm playing for the Dog & Duck, they don't appreciate my talents so I'll do you a favour and come to The Mighty Saints for a red Ferrari and £1000 a week on a three year contract". Colin replies "Well, son, let's see how you cut it in the Conference Nationale. Play a couple of games for £100 a week, and then we'll sit down and have a chat". O.K. Gaffer" says Player A. And so it comes to pass. After Saturday's capitulation against Grey's Grays, before he has taken his shirt off, Player A says. "Well Gaffer, while we have a moment before you start on the post match analysis, my agent has prepared this three-year contract at £1000 per week for you to sign. Right there at the bottom. And he says that if you don't Alex Ferguson is standing by." "Bye", says Colin.

Player B, who hasn't started a game for 3 weeks, arrives at the Ground at ten to three, or whenever t'lads get there, on Saturday and says "Look Boss, I see you haven't picked me for the starting line-up, and although you're probably going to say that the chaps from last week deserve their place, I'm looking for a guarantee of first team football, and I haven't heard from Gibbo about the giraffe leather seats for the new Ferrari". "This is early doors for this sort of chat, Player B," says The Great One, "let's sit down at the end of the day and have a chat". After Player A has left the premises, and before colin can start on his post match an. thingy, Player B says, "Oi Gaffer, how about that chat regarding my permanent starting slot on the Number ? shirt?". "Bye" says Colin.

And Player C. who is 12 years old, then says "Before you start, Gaffer, I've shown some nice touches when you've brought me on off the bench, but the Dog & Duck in Chipping Sodbury Bottom have offered me £100 a goal and red Ferrari when I've passed my driving test, and I think that my future might lie elsewhere." "Bye", says Colin.

Shirts? SHIRTS? I don't like to offer even a hint of a suggestion to Colin Lippiatt, but he should say to them "Right you lot. At training from now on, and on match days, you flipping shower can play in flipping skins until you flipping-well show me that you flipping deserve to wear the flipping shirt."

Hi Canary Saint

First rule of management is never assume anything. Last time LL released a load of players McBean and Simpson were the 'better' players. Now off they go and look out for another few new faces. Will they be any better. On current track record I doubt it. I can't see how 'we' are going to get any better with this constant chopping and changing. Looks a bit to me like LL is losing the plot. It really is going to be a long Winter (if it ever arrives).

Hi AFF,

How are you?

Have not had the chance to get over yet this season but always look out for the results, must admit saturday's hurt when it came up on sky, what's happening was it just one of those freak results? I hope so because it would be great if you could stay up this season and establish yourselves at that level.

Ciao Mancini, bello. Bene, grazia. Et tu?

Saturday was not good at all. Michael Knightly, the Greys right wing was probably the best player on the pitch and they exploited our limited experience on the left, at both left-back and on the left side of midfield. It should have been 2 or three but we just fell apart.

Our part time status is being exposed, big time, and the speed of thought and body that comes with full-time football has been the difference on a number of occasions which has cost us half-a-dozen or so points. One of my statto chums worked out a few games ago that we had conceded 21 goals [at that time], and of those, 7 had been scored against us during the last 10 minutes of the game. That's all the games, of course. We haven't conceded 21 in one game yet, although Saturday felt like that.

In addition, Colin has been really stuffed by an horrendous injury list, coupled with suspensions which has prevented him from fielding a first choice side too often and getting any level of consistency.

Players have had to brought in and, of course, as one of the only clubs at this level playing part-time, and paying good, no doubt, but nevertheless part-time wages, we aren't likely to be considered to be very attractive to the likes of Craig Bellamy or Paul Ince. Younger players have come from the lower Leagues and they haven't been up to the job for the most part. We shouldn't be surprised at that, as our players who, last season were playing terrific football at Conference South level, have struggled to step up. Why then, should we be surprised that someone from the Ryman Premier League is not going to make it two leagues higher?

On the playing front, there have been some successes, however. You will like the look of the right back, Damian "Damo" "Batty" Batt.

It's going to be a long hard season. You can put a shilling or two on us avoiding the drop, however, Colin and Nick know what they are doing.

Alora, Mancini, caro. Hopefully Lee "Lee" Flynn will be back at left back this Saturday but as he's the only fit one we've got, perhaps you should bring your boots if you come in the next couple of weeks. You would do better job than me, that's for sure, and anyway, I'm standing by to come in on the right side of the back four.

Speak soon.

Don't think LL is actually losing the plot, but he's in a very difficult position what with injuries, suspension and loss of form for some players.

The transfer window and lack of a reserve team does not help when bringing in new players. But there you go, you just have to work with what you have got.

It was always going to be a difficult season given city's resources.

Ha thanks AFF

My boots are covered in cobwebs and that's not just for halloween <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Colin is a top bloke and i'm sure he will turn it round, as you rightly say being only part time was always going to be tough but if they can survive this year who knows.

Look forward to seeing you when I come over

Hi MarkCol.

From the thingy at the bottom of your posts, you clearly rate Paul Hakim. And I see that on another thread, you seemed to be encouraging the selection of Elliot benyon.

That's two strikers, which doesn't include Lee Clarke or Simon Martin or Duane Jackman.

The idea of playing a formation with five up front has momentary appeal for a nano-second or two, but it's likely to leave us just slightly exposed at the back notwithstanding the class of Paul Bastock.
