Midfield

With DeBolla set to return, along with all our other midfielders, I was puzzling over our best combination.

Quinn as anchorman, is a must.

DeBolla, passing ability, scores goals, is also in.

Keeling, great pace, wicked killing crosses.

Ricketts, best right wing back for years.

Long, looks a class act, great range of long and short passes.

Anderson, tricky right winger.

Slatter, tireless box to box worker, gets stuck in.

Coleman, shows huge promise, runs forever.

Which 5 would you pick?

Can see these 9 struggling personally for weekly satisfaction . Headache time for LD , but a nice one . With this selection of players it gives us the chance to play a number of ways , depending on the opposition . In a normal situation at the mo , we've got Sach and Ricks wide , Quinn central , leaving room for two creatives - not much room left is there ? If the oppo play wide men , this stops them . If the oppo have the ball , we need to win it - Quinn does this , more often than not Sach and Ricks challenge but the ball goes into touch , on account of their position ? Plus it gives LD the option of dropping these two back into defence at times , which I'm sure Ricks enjoys more , with the result that we concede less goals , which is what we're doing . Tough one ... who'd be a manager . On a plus point , great dilemma , great from a fan's viewpoint .

It is a very tricky choice. I would pick Ricketts,Quinn,DeBolla and Keeling with either Slatts, Long or Coleman filling the final place.

When Long has a couple of games under his belt he might change that selection and Coleman has been so impressive it seems criminal not to pick him.

Who was it who reckoned we would struggle to get a side out this season?

Bl**dy difficult choice, I think Liam Daish will have to make his selection through the way the players train.

My top five would have to be: Ricketts, Quinn, Long, DeBolla and Keeling.

Difficult because of players like Slatter and Coleman, who are also very good.

4-5-1 would mean dropping a player who has played consistently well all season (Luke Moore) in order to accomodate a basically unseen player who would get his place through reputation alone (Stacy Long). Long might turn out to be the next Jimmy Bullard, however with everyone playing so well at the moment, players should be fighting for places by outplaying each other. If it ain't broke, don't fix it (Excuse the cliche).

Good point Slarti. Whilst we have won three games in four, and all three of those wins coming with clean sheets, and we are 4th in the table, and we look to have one of the most effective attacking trios in the League, with 22 goals already from Moore, DeBolla and Charlie, I think we should repay the immense hard work that the playing squad have put in so far, with letting them keep the places they have fought to make their own.

Harry, I appreciate that you're just making a suggestion mate. I see your point about including Stacy Long, as he needs games for us to be able to see his potential. I'm not trying to slate you down, but I'm very adamant that the system should be left untouched for now, whilst we're justified in celebrating reaching the dizzy heights of 4th!
