Hertford Town 6 Ruislip Manor 2

Recommended Posts

This game was very unusual in that Hertford led 6-0 at half time, looking like they would beat their 9-0 with ease. It looked like all our Christmases had come at once, with Redford and Cooper all over Manor like a rash. Half time changed all that. The legendary Tommy Lambourne came on and played in the centre of defence, and neither Redford nor Cooper got another sniff. The great man pulled up trees as he shut out the 39 goal combined threat. Manor had by far the better of the second half, and Mickey Swaysland added some respectability to the scoreline, with a header and a penalty.

Thanks to Horace and HTFCew for excellent hospitality. We enjoyed our day if not the result. First Hertford goal was due to a dubious penalty but some comical defending in next 28 minutes really did mean that all Hertfords's Christmas's had come at once as Redford and Cooper made hay to make it 6-0 at half time. Credit to the Manor team for a spirited second half, Lambourne kept Cooper quiet and we got two back. HTFCone might like to talk you through the first as he misjudged a cross and allowed 'The Sway' a free header (when asked he pointed out the lack of marking) but the keeper made a superb save as we swarmed all over Hertford's goal like the proverbial rash. Got more back to put a bit od respectability on score but a good team beat us on the day.

Yes Rhodes your ears would have been burning as we were talking about you.

Let's see where Hertford are in the league after their next three games....

Edgware Town Hertford Town Saturday, 28 October 2006

Hertford Town Broxbourne Borough V&E Saturday, 04 November 2006

Leverstock Green Hertford Town

I feel this is going to be a REAL test for them. Up to know, they have NOT played any of the top sides, and their recent run on wins have come against sides who are in the lower half of the table. Also they have dropped a number of points at home, with two defeats already.

Compare this to Edgware's recent form, where we have played our last FOUR league games away, winning them all !, beating an improving Tring by six goals, an improving Harigey by three goals, beating a Broxboune side who were unbeaten in seven 2-1, and WGC today.

Add to that the fact that in the last three games we have had up to five regular players out, and our goalkeeper sent off after ten minutes last week, I think ours is the more impressive set of resutls. Granted Hertford have scored nine and 6 goals in two of their games.

If you take a look at the next games of Edgware and Leverstock you would have to say that both clubs have an easier set of fixtues coming up

Edgware Town Hertford Town Saturday, 28 October 2006

Oxhey Jets Edgware Town Saturday, 04 November 2006

Edgware Town Aylesbury Vale Saturday, 11 November 2006

Edgware Town St Margaretsbury

We shall see Horace do you fully expect to turn up and take 3pts off a team who has won their last EIGHT games? I am not saying that you CAN'T win, I expect a much closer game. As long as its a good game and a good advert for the league then fair enough. Hopefully there will be a decent size crowd as well.

I am just speculatiing wth the fixtures, there is a heck of long way to go yet, only played ELEVEN league games, thas TWENTY NINE to go!

I am certainly hoping to Gavin, sounds like I will need some ear protectors though!!

You do make it sound like you and your mate are the only two Edgware fans , does he ever come on here?

Not the only two, but the only two that sing. No, he does not have internet access. He does not go to as many Edgware games as myself, I had to 'sell' Edgware to him, and he started going along with me last season.

When at games we try to sing NON STOP for the whole 90 mins, we get some strange looks from players of the opposistion who think we are CRAZY, which we prob are .

In the FA Vase match with Hertford we tried to and ended up outsinging over 20 of their fans.

We did the same at Ware last season where we outsung over 30 of them, theysang 'your'e' support is far too loud". We did the same at Tooting in a cup match last season.

Problem is there is only the two of us that are like that and want to sing, it may have something to do wit the fact that we are both Millwall supporters and used to beiing passionate.

HTFC ONE was very impressed with the noise we made.

As I said I have got TWO MARINE USE air horns that I have just got on ebay and will be making good use of them. For those Hertford fans at the Vase game, thse are not the same as before, these are speical or MARINE use, they are going to be LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with showing a bit a passion Gavin, though I do get flashes of that advert on TV with the bloke on his own at a non league match using an air horn and geeting glared at, sounds like they based him after you

Please tell me you dont sing Eddddddddggggggwwwwwaaaaaaarrrrrreeeeeeeee!!!

We sing "no one likes us as " as well We have a vast repertoire of songs, if only a few more joined in

Thanks again to Horace & HTFCew for your hospitality (btw custard creams were excellent Paula).

It was good to meet some of the forum members and put faces to the postings. I think the Challenge Trophy final as discussed, would be a good event to get all the forum members together socially with the highlight being Rhodes eating his hat in front of all his "friends" from the forum. Don't worry Rhodes old chum we wont forget.

What a surprise, why on earth didn't he play from the start as in theory Manor would have won 2-0. Just seen that Paula wasn't present, perhaps she got a better offer from her new man!

Horace - how comes you know about my love life
Sorry to disappoint - got up late (heavy night) and then went riding (horse), dog running and shopping. Was too late then.
Maybe next time i'll come (and to the match)
