Get rid of penalites and bring in Shoot outs

Having watched the movie 'once in a lifetime' a documentary about the New York Cosmos and the NASL in the 70's, I think that FIFA made a big mistake. Shoot outs were MUCH more exciting, a player had 10 seconds to score, and this was a real case of skill rather then just luck. Some great shoot out goals, and some that never beat the clock, so were not given. Plus you had players standing a good distance away so no encroachment.

 

You could still have pens for offences but shoot outs could have replaces penalty shoot outs.

F*ck that! As a player I'd rather be taking a pen any day of the week.. I wouldn't even be able to reach the goal in 10 secs!!

I think 18 yard line, The movie ' once in a lifetime' is excellent, showing the rise and fall of the New York Cosmos, from playing in front of 350 people to 72000! they fall was as spectacular as thier fall. Carlos Alberto scored an amazing shoot out goal, he flicked the ball up three times then sent a volley into the roof of the net!

There is no encroachment at penalty shoot outs anyway as everyone not involved is in the centre circle.
