That's My Lot

Recommended Posts

I will no longer be a moderator or user of this forum. Unfortunately, after years of using and promoting it to others, I now feel that this is doing nothing but harming the club and it's supporters.

The thing that I've become pi**ed off with is people trying to cause trouble. Yes Mick, I deleted your FA Cup post. Why? Because it's only intention was to cause trouble between us and Hornchurch. What is the point? Supposing trouble were to happen at a match after people had heard comments made on here involving people that do not even use the forum? You've done a lot of good for the club, but I can't agree with the way you and others use the forums for us and our rivals.

I know that not everybody likes Hornchurch, and as a rival I dislike them as I do Southend, Grays etc. However, I also have respect for them as they have been through a similar situation as ourselves. We're going through a difficult time on the pitch at the moment, so how we can knock a team who has beaten us once, is second in the league, took a Conf South team to a replay, and is still in the trophy is beyond me.

Unlike others I have always made myself publically known behind my user name, anything I say on here is therefore something that I would say to people face to face. It's always easier to make comments when you can hide behind an internet name, and I feel this goes on too much also.

Anyway, that's my rant done with. Anybody who wants to contact me re any club issues can do so on gleneckett@canveyislandfc.com.

Cheers

Glen

The problem with responsibility TGE is the need to make decisions, allowing for your emotional connections to Canvey you need to simply be cold in that decision-making.

If a posting does not fit-in with the spirit of the club (we do trust you) then knock it out and simply treat it as decision made and move on, you need never explain your actions to the weak minded.

In making you a moderator people trusted you with the good-will and perception of CIFC to the outside world, ignore the flea bites and just do the job as you feel is right for CIFC.

I would sincerely urge you to stick with it and, taking pabird’s excellent advice, do what you think is best for our forum and ignore the howls of protest from those who are trying to sabotage the board anyway.

Too may people object to censorship simply because it stops their personal rantings. But don’t censor, simply edit; just like the editor of a newspaper. Anything that doesn’t fit in with our house style (which for years was always clever, erudite, pithy and amusing, even in the John Crawshaw days) can be moved to a new thread to be stickied at the top of the page, The Utter Tosh Thread.

Let’s make a new condition for this discussion board, something simple along the lines of, “All posts must seek to further develop and nurture fellowship and camaraderie between football fans (both CIFC and opponents). Posts which, in the opinion of the Moderator, fail to meet this single criteria, can and will be moved to a more appropriate place.”

OK, it needs work, but for goodness sake, lets get our forum back and let’s trust people like you to do it for us. All the complaints and crocodile tears won’t bother me as they will be moved to the Utter Tosh thread as soon as they are spotted and we won’t have to read them (unless we want to).

As Parbird says, we trust you and those with any degree of common sense will back you to the hilt, even when you are wrong.

Too many personal vendettas have turned this forum into a sespit of hate. This place is a forum for discussing football and such like issues, not the place to drag peoples' names through the mud therefore creating too much tension and totally un-needed threats of action.

Common sense is what should carry this forum forward and those that seek to slander and libel other users should keep well away from this place as they will not be made welcome if their current agenda remains.

It's damaging the good name of CIFC, our fans, our Directors, our guests and our opponents! It is becoming a total embarrassment!

Glen and myself watch this forum closely, usually when the other cannot do so. I have not felt the need to censor or edit anything on here for some time, and anything that has been removed has been done so before I've arrived in the morning etc.

I would suggest to those with issues outside of our Club, to leave now and sort it elsewhere in private. No Admin and no Canvey moderator is at fault for this forum becoming what it is and anyone who says otherwise will be ignored, while we attempt to get this forum back to decent dicussion and valid debate.

Always, two steps forward and one step back with this place! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

I have just had a short conversation with Glen as I thought that his decision was as a result of my comments and I am glad he confirmed that it was not!

I am sorry if I contributed to the decision and apologise if I have!!

I have myself been reflecting on the reasons why I visit this site, initially it was for fun and it is no longer that!

There seems little football conversation, with more and more vitriol and P^ss taking, it is only banter when you can respond in kind!!

I am afraid I cannot stand back and not do or say anything when something seems to be unfair, I just cant stand bullies. That does mean I may retaliate when the wiser thing may be to say nothing!

On occassion I must admit it would have been wiser to say nothing, I have never liked bullies and find it hard to ignore them!!

The reason I am on here is because I support CIFC, some of my recent posts have encouraged unwelcome posters to come on here and attack our club.

I would not deliberatly do anything to offend any CIFC supporter or to cause damage to the club!

Those of you that know me know that is not what I am about, I therefore will no longer post on here on any thread or any subject!!

thats self serving nonsense MOB and you know it...the only bully on here is you and your post yesterday and previous posts prove that, as do your numerous anonymous and slanderous posts on numerous forums..all of which have attracted the attention of the moderators of those forums...it was your post that was deleted yesterday no one else's so how could it not be because of you you cretin and yet you chose to ignore the moderators position and post it again thereby attracting the further posts...that directly led to glens resignation post and he said that above..

even the post I am replying to is defamatory and inflammatory...you talk of wanting this that and the other for the benefit of your club and yet you put a post on here yesterday which was quite possibly the worst post I have ever seen....you call that banter...it was designed solely to cause trouble between hx and canvey..as were your anonymous and wholly unfounded posts against me on the welling forum...it goes on and on with other forums and yet you cannot leave well enough alone....for my part I have made no more than 6 posts on this forum in the past 3 months since you requested we ignore each other...but you couldn't leave it could you...

the only bully I can see around this forum is you and I don't like bullies either....you post anonymous slander and unproven vitriol and are a coward as you do not put your name to them....

you are a nasty piece of work o'brian and make no mistake you have made a serious enemy of me and mine...

you'll keep until boxing day and in the meantime I shall do whatever I have to do to gain redress for the slanderous and cowardly anonymous posts made against me by you michael o' brian on the welling forum...and I will not be alone either..others are somewhat upset after you attacked them as well...

if canvey had any sense they would ban you from the club and the forums as without doubt you have served to cause more trouble and embarrasment for that club than anyone before you...

you are a coward and a bully...

good fckn riddance...

There are many opportunities to be cut on a double-edged sword and now that the Canvey forum has been gracious in allowing the bite the indigestion and follow-up bite enough is enough.

There are splendid forums available for non-league supporters and Canvey is now regaining its position among the better.

Taking no sides I would now urge the following:

1. TGE puts this behind him and with every posters best wishes gets on with the job.

2. This posting is assigned to history.

3. The two protagonists take this debate to the back of the cycle shed and sort it there.

4. Canvey continue to offer a welcome with no little banter and irony to our friends from other forums.

morning pabird

as always wise words and thanx...I for my part will now step away from the very public and embarrassing spat with said 'retiree' and deal with that behind the scenes...I shall only post on here in humour and on football matters in general..I shall also ask that 'our lot' do the same out of respect to the two decent moderators on here both of whom I have met....

there needs to be a healthy rivalry 'tween teams such as Hx and Canvey (good for business methinks)...and it can only happen when the forums are used 'in football banter'

here's to it...

glen, stick with it mate,i have no problem with anyone slagging hornchurch off if we lose,i do it when others lose, its football after all and two oppossing clubs will always have banter, sometimes it can go too far but thats life

I didn't see what was posted so i can't really comment too far but i would be lying if i said i would of been upset by it as i can take the p1ss as much as the next bloke and therefore can take it back.Having met you glen i know you are a top bloke and imo you should stick to it,in the mean time i think as unc has said on the hx forum that canvey forum should be used to post footy topics only and not abusive messages as it does seem to of gone a tad too far again.

pabird is a wise sage imo.

for my part, i've kept well away from the canvey forum and i'm a little suprised at glen's resignation, but did not see the post which kicked it off.

i hope canvey lose every game they ever play, but at the same time, i hope there will always be a canvey and have nothing but fraternal friendship for the poor souls who watch them every game. especially the lads who came to the bridge.

that, ladies and gentlemen, is what it is all about.

xx

I saw the post and it was rather embarrassing but that's all I will say on the matter.

Cheers chaps. Let's get this forum back to being an informative, fun and witty place to be.
