More youth aggro

Continuing the unpleasant theme of trouble in youth football. There was front page news in the Echo last night of an under 16 game over Wickford Memorial Park where it all kicked.

 

Allegedly there was parents on the pitch, a mum was knocked unconcious, two kids up before the beak on violent conduct charges.

 

Apparently two of the dads involved were 48 year olds. What is up with these people. I helped run my boys under 11 cricket team this year and umpired in most games. There were occasions when I thought the other teams umpire may have got it wrong and probably times when he thought I might have got it wrong. There were also a couple of occasions where we had to berrate each other players, but we supported each other and stood together for the greater good.

 

I have to say the only coach from the other team to openely mock any of my umpiring decisions was an ex non-league footballer...... says it all really.

 

COME OM ESSEX FA, GET OUT OF YOUR IVORY TOWERS AND GET DOWN TO GRASSROOTS TO SORT IT OUT.

Saw it. The Chairman of one of the clubs was so incensed that he immediately withdrew his team from the league.

Any idea of the names/ age group of the teams?

All Star Colts v Leigh Town U16s. It was Leigh Town that have withdrawn their team from the Southend Junior League.
