Hot news from the FA :

In a ground breaking scheme aimed at redressing the pyramid imbalance between North and South, the FA has today announced that deserving, emerging, clubs in the south (particularly in deprived inner city areas, and with no prospect of their own ground) will be allowed to move north, take up a place in the extra Step 4 league and be provided with a brand spanking new ground, up to Conference standards of their own.

The first club to be selected for this scheme is Kentish Town FC, and secretary Cliff Rhodes said " This is marvellous news. I'm prepared to take the whole club, lock stock and barrel up to County Durham. We've even been told that we don't have to win SSMFL Div 1! The FA recognise that we've been pulling up trees and it's going to be like a rash all over the national press. I'll be contacting some great players like Glenn Surety and Tommy Lambourne, as we are sure to need some class acts in Step 4. I am not at all concerned about the club having to change it's name to Trimdon Colliery Welfare", said Mr Rhodes.

Yes, apparently the news has caused an outcry in County Durham. The MP for Sedgefield (Rt Hon Tony Blair) said this morning " My constituents have told me that they don't want a load of southern jessies up here" and has ordered (in his capacity as Prime Minister) a full enquiry.

Rang the FA, and a bloke called Art Ford-Town said that Rhodes had jumped the gun in letting the cat out of the bag,and they were sick as a parrott that he had told everyone that he was over the moon about it. The PM is livid, he said - we didnt know that Trimdon was in the PMs constituency - looks a bit fishy now, doesnt it?

Hi Malds, knee is good and improving all the time. Had to give it some tlc yesterday as I overdid it a bit on Sat.

Went to the St Mugs v Hertford game and stayed for a 'couple' of beers after.. well couple of beers turned into leaving Sky at around half twelve and rather worse for wear!!

Game itself was ok for the Neutrals, Bury had a game plan which worked pretty well and they had the better of the first half, Ben Herod looking impressive in his floating role between midfield and forward(s).. not sure where Ryan Brown was supposed to be playing!

Hertford better in the second half, personally I think it would've been harsh on the Bury to lose the game and think the draw was about right.

Apparently the EC have now stuck their oar in - claiming that such regional grants are THEIR responsibility, and will be raising the matter in the European Parliament. President Bush is reported to have said - Kentish Town - who's their quarter back?

I agree it would of been very harsh. Did the ball really cross the line or was the lino Russian? We will never know. I think both sides were happy with a point at the end. A great save by HTFC1 preventing Melvyn Thompson getting the winner for Bury in the dying moments.

I'd had enough beer at that point but was 'dragged' in kicking and screaming by a couple of ladies who were using me to get away from a couple of desperado's who had followed them from another pub.

Politely stayed for a couple of drinks and made my excuses and left!
