Harefield and Hertford stumble as Edgware march onwards and upwards!!!!

Recommended Posts

i bet they were both a bit sheepish after the game !

sounds like your stand in was well protected

our game with you guys in a couple of weeks is getting bigger by the minute...although i wouldnt get too carried away just yet gav alot of the top teams do have to play each other...some twice !

Not getting too carried away but more important neither are the players. That said, this is probably the best Edgware side in a good 15/16 years, since the last time we won the Spartan league.

Yesterday's performance was excellent from all involved.

gav u do talk some [****!!****] dont ya!!

if that was ur best performance, the rest of ur performances must have been shocking!! ur first goal was from our keeper kicking the ball at ur wing bk and ur second goal was after i was sent off (the ref was always looking to even things up after he had sent ur keeper off, he didnt deserve to go in my opinion)

First half we had four clear cut chances but werent clinical enough!

Our leading scorer was out injured, if he had played we would have scored a few!

The only good players in ur side are Juniour Lewis (as u would expect as an ex pro), Ur skipper (energetic midfielder) and Wallace up top is a handful! otherwise u r just an average side!!

A draw would have been a fair result but u got the win so fair play, but to say u were better then us is ridiculous!

Well in my and many other Edgware fans opinion who were at the game yesterday it WAS our best performance. It was always going to be a tough game, but once we went down to ten and lost our keeper, I thought, we were in for a hiding.

The team defended every ball, and then we broke away and started to make attacks. We should have been a goal up before HT, but your keeper did make a good double save, as he got to the rebound.

Boro did have a few chances, but you have to be honest and say that your team never really put our stand in keeper under pressure. He had a few point blank saves to make, but nothing that really streched him.

I thought some of our passing and movement off the ball was excellent specially Adam Walllace and Phil Kane on the left wing. Add to that the fact we had Rory Smith our cpt, Stuart blackburne on crutches, Ben Hayden / and Steve Brady who went off very early all missing.

I thought it was a lot better due to those circumstances then when we beat Holmer 7-0 or Tring 6-2 away, both good performances, but yesterday it was a REAL match, as in not a walkover for us.

You and some others may not think we have a good side, but the league table does not lie, and we are level with Hertford at the top with THREE games in hand, now the Harefield game has to be replayed.

Maybe you did not see the most attacking display from us, due to the fact we were down to 10, but still, we had plenty of chances in the second half, and Adam should have scored, when instead he selflishy passed to Ben Cain, who's shot went wide, plus several other chances.

I enjoyed the game, and thought BB were a decent enough side, and the club seem friendly.

That was our 7th win on the spin, and our last 3 league games have all been away and we have won them all, next Sat we are away again.

i think the way u go to every game with ur shirt on and singing is commendable!! its good to see in non league footy!

...
Fair play, but you said it was you who stopped the coach at the game v Hertford, I still wonder what would have happened had you caught us two, prob given us a good beating.

My friend was not at the game yesterday othewise we would have sung our hearts out. I take it you saw and heard me though? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Gavin - the DRIVER stopped the coach, because SOMEONE had been throwing something at it. He likes his coach!

in terms of digging in wen u had 10 men, i agree it was a good performance!! u made it very hard for us to play our passing game!! we restricted u to mostly long range strikes!

we were very disappointed we didnt test ur stand in keeper more, but credit has to go to ur defence for protecting him well!!

I thought a draw would have been a fair result, but fair play u have to win these games to be up there and u did!

i dont think we will be up there now!

I thought you said it was your idea?, anyway, that is better left in the past. I hope when we play Hertford in a couple of weeks that I can shake hands with the Hertford fans, before AND after the game, whatever the outcome.

I think that is a VERY good assesment of the game.

I think you could be top six, at the rate Harefield are going, you could be above them soon.

Leverstock Green appear to be the supprise side of the divison so far. Good wins in both league and cup. They put four past us, and beat us 4-2. That said we never turned up in the first half and had a player sent off they scored three. Second half we scored two when down to ten men and could and should have got a draw.

We play them at home Tuesday week in the SSML Prem cup.

All in the past and forgotten, Gavin. Not likely to be a coach next time! Should be a cracker of a game - won't be the pushover we were last time!

We have been about close (about 100 yards)once! Villa Park May 2004 FA Trophy Final Canvey Island v Hednesford. You were the strikingly tall blonde with that bloody drum, weren't you? I was in the posh seats on the opposite side!
