Harefield and Hertford stumble as Edgware march onwards and upwards!!!!

Recommended Posts

What a great performace this afternoon away to Broxbourne. Edgware won the match 2-1, and played for 80 mins with ten men as our goalkeeper had been sent off afer he handled the ball outside the area.

Vince Rispoli our left wing back went in goal and played superbly, making some excellent saves throughout the game, and only conceeding the goal deep into stopage time at the end of the 90 mins

Edgware did not let this setback hamper them, instead we pushed forward playing some lovely attacking football. Midway through the first half we were awarded a penalty but the spot kick was missed and so was the rebound. I thought we may have let our chance slip, but the second half we were just as good as the first.

The whole team played as a unit, and I would go as far as saying that IS the best performance of the season. Taking into account that we had our captin Rory Smith / our striker Stuart Blackburne/ Midfielder/Ben Hayden/ all missing, and then our keeper sent off.

We have a great depth to the squad now, and Broxbourne found it very hard to cope with Adam Wallace up front and with Phil Kane in midfield. I dont really want to single out anyone because in this performance they were ALL stars.

On the team bus travelling home we heard the scores from todays games, and heard that Hertford and Harefield had dropped points. Harefield seem to be on the slippery slope downwards, not only did they get the bad news yesterday that they must play us again, but their form has gone right downhill of late.

We now sit in second place, level on points, just ONE goal behind Hertford with THREE games in hand.!!! Had the players known that, I am sure they would have converted one of the many chances we had this afternoon. We had a good four or five chances where we could have scored.

96 mins? ouch, thats hard to take, specially as it was a derby game for you. Are St Mags any good? What do you hink of our win at Broxbourne with ten men and with our keeper being sent off after 10 mins?

I forgot to add in the report that Broxbourne had a player sent off late in the game.

Your win was excellant - most teams would crumble with their goallie off so early.

I have a theory about us! This week has seen the start of softer pitches, and we've had two games in quick succession where our opponents have actually been able to catch, and clatter, our fast men. Or is it that we've just played two consecutive dirty teams?

Good pics Gav,

Borx's ground looks to be developing well.

No, sorry AWK, it was hard to take a pic from behind the far goal, due to watching out for all the bricks and rubble!

How about I take four pics from the White Lion, direct from behind each goal and direct from the halfway line, would you be able to match them all up for a panoramic pic?

Oh it was him who got sent off?, shame.....NOT <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />Neither he nor BBB made themselves known to me, no doubt they will come on here slagging me off for something or other, but at least I made myself known by shouting for my team.

I thoght Broxbourne were a decent enough side, but we defended so well, and did not let them trouble our 'goalkeeper' I think you would admit as a keeper yourself that to go in goal as an outfield player and keep a clean sheet till deep into stopage time away from home is impressive.

Level on points with you now, and in threoy we have three games in hand. Looking forward to our league meeting with you.
