Slough were poor

Remind me of thescore again? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Why, is the memory that short in Slough?

The score was 2-0 to you.

I thought you were poor. It took your left back about five attempts to hit the pitch with a goal kick, and Telemaque aside, I thought you were devoid of quality and with the exception of Ashford you were the worst side we have played this season (including Hendon).

However given that I feel that about your team it is hardly surprising that I described our performance as "woeful", as even your "poor" performance was comfortably enough to beat us.

You deserved the win and look forward to seeing you at New Lodge later in the season.

So you're basing Slough's performance upon the amount of times it took a defender to hit the pitch with a goal kick? Nice logic there...

It was an example of the general quality of your play.

I have seen about 15 opposition teams this season and it is upon that that I have based my opinion of Slough's team. Of course I may have caught you on a bad day but the league table would suggest otherwise.

Presumably you have watched a few games this season...Would you say your side is good, average or poor?

Th e pitch was attrocious the ref was completely pathetic and should not be allowed to officiate at this level. Hopefully the assessor will reccomend this. Having said that neither of these things lost us the game. Once again we did not take our chances and we gave away a goal by leaving two players unmarked from a corner. We played the ball through the middle in the air against two giants who won most balls and did not use our width on the wings to our advantage.

congratulations to Slough on their 1st win at home you took the only chances you had and we didnt. I am sure we will see a different attitude and possibly a different starting line up on Tuesday. Look out Margate!!!!!!

Will considerably better than yours suffice?

Bertie breaks out in Slough.

If only! Hopefully one day we'll actually have something to shout about! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I cannot believe that no one has mentioned our captains behaviour. This was our captain that has let his team down (not that it decided the result) in a manner that is totally unacceptable. I feel sorry for Dormer in some respects as he was having a shocking game and he should never have been on the pitch after half time. Some of the decisions taken by our bench are bizzarre to say the least. Even a Slough fan could see our best player was hodgie and yet we take him off over a player having a stinker. It seems Dormer can have a bad game and is still assured his place! Aside from the Ashford game he has not been putting the displays in that we expect from him. I could be wrong on this next bit and I stand to be corrected and I hope I am, but it seemed to me that Dorms was more than happy for Blewitt to take the rap and let him get his marching orders.

You cant blame the pitch, it was bad for both teams, but our only tactic was to launch the ball up field where the two slough centre halves were having a field day. If you play well you dont need to rely on the ref being good or bad, so although he wasnt great, its not an excuse either.

Very dissapointing showing, the only bright spot was Chris Whelpdale who was the pick or our players along with Hodges.

Yeah totally agree with that we were woeful we could have been 1,2 down at half time as we never look like scoring and worster had to make a couple of saves to keep the score 0-0. We just cannot score at the moment and it puts more pressure on the back line to perform and keep clean sheets when we just aint scoring. Scored 5 against Ashford Town but they were very poor and we should have maybe even beaten them by 6 or 7.

The problem on Saturday was (i believe) the players went out there thinking that just because we had put 5 past Ashford all they would have to do is walk on the pitch! Well it does not work like that lads. I personally offer no excuse and just say that this was a game that was very winnable and we just did not look like wanting it enough. I (like all Town followers) but even more so to the ones who witnessed Saturday want the lads to give us something back in terms of performance for Tuesday. We can handle defeat and we have witnessed defeats where the lads get a good applause at the end for their efforts, but we were just not at the races.

Anyway, well done to Slough, once they went 1-0 up it was going to be their day.

Tuesday is another biggy, so come on boys up the stakes - Give us a performance with effort and if we lose then that is fair enough.

Oh and it took nearly 3 hours to get back by train! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/doah.gif" alt="" />

Some good comment lads.

At least the ref gave me something to shout about.

Westy, yes Ronnie did well again, but making saves is his job, it wasn't a beyond the call of duty stuff.

I can assure you that no ones place is safe, and yes Dorms did let the club down. We will miss him for three games now.

Unlike Paul, I thought he has been one of our more passionate players of late...

Hill didn't start because he had no grass to play on, it was thought that the runway would ruin his game. But as it happens, even on that surface it wouldn’t have taken a lot for him to have been our best player.

The long ball up the middle was most definatly not a tactic; it was one of the many things that our players took upon themselves to employ.

Margate is going to be a tough game and one that we must give a 100% in, if we do. then it is most certainly a winnable game..

I'm gobsmacked that Hill didn't start because of pitch conditions! On that basis he'll be starting a few more games on the bench!

Which pitches are as bad as Windsor's...Saturdays Windsor has to be the the worst by far.

WIth hind sight it's easy to justify why Hill should have starterd, and I accept that your choice would have been Hill pre match, but the fact is our team didn't turn up on Saturday, and whoever played, the performance should have been better.

Team selection wasn't our downfall, we have played a lot better pre DH. That team should have been able to keep a clean sheet at the very least.
