MATCH THREAD: Slough Town vs Billericay Town

Telemaque goal was an OG by the keeper as it was going wide and the keeper pushed it in.

Total confusion with the fight as the ricky 4 was sent off possible mistakenly and then came back on and their 6 was then red carded correctly for the punch which caused the "gathering"

Not sure why Telemaque got the red as he did not retaliate - lots going on so may have missed something.

Otherwise the game was a much better performance with some good saves by Drake and having Telemaque and Davies has made a considerable difference and Wallo is benifiting from having them up with him.

Mason aslo performed well but still lacks the commitment when it comes to takles.

Wilko a giant as ever.

3 very needed points in the bag - well done the boys!!!!

Probably a better performance than at Ramsgate and certainly the right result. Ricay have a history of beating us but it was clear from early on that we were not going to let them do that again. Telemaque and Wallace compliment each other very well and you can see Wallo's confidence growing with playing up top with a quality striker.

First half we didn't pull the trigger often enough when in good situations but were solid. Second half and for once it was us who came out of the blocks and Daly scored with a towering header from a corner. Drake made some good saves in the second half and we kept trying to hit them on the break, with Telemaque called offside on several occasions. One of these times he didn't hear the whistle/played on and the referee gave him a yellow card.

Then towards the end the keeper came out of his area to get to a through ball. He and Wallace met at the same time, Wallace then chased onto the loose ball, crossed into the middle where Telemaque outjumped two defenders. His header looked to be going the wrong side of the post but the scrambling keeper desperate to get back into the goal diverted it into his own net.

It got tasty in the last few minutes. Mason was holding the ball in the corner and Telemaque came over to help him. Errol probably fouled the Ricay defender in getting the ball which the linesman gave. Then all hell broke loose with the Ricay player going for Telemaque and within seconds nearly all of the players were in the thick of it with the coaching staff coming on too to try to calm things down.

The referee did his best to seperate everybody. Net result, a second yellow card for Telemaque and a straight red for the Ricay No.4 who was furious. The two linesman both consulted with the ref to tell him he had sent off the wrong player, 4 was invited back and Ricay No.6 got the straight red.

Final whistle blew soon afterwards and a deserved three points.

Errol was perhaps unfortunate to get a second yellow but when a melee breaks out like that is usually results in a player from both teams being punished. Having already been booked it perhaps made the refs job a little easier.

Errol and Wallace were fantastic, the centre backs made some last ditch tackles, some good saves from Drake and Wilko was immense. Man of the Match for me though was Terry Davies who played some great ball forwards to the forwards and takes a great corner.

More of the same boys. Fantastic today and you deserved the standing ovation at the end.

Agree with just about everything KT has put, apart from I thought Telemaque deserved his booked for essentially starting the melee with, shall we say, a tasty tackle in winning the ball back, but that said, their player reacted very badly which caused all hell to break loose. Should make for interesting viewing.

how was 4 allowed to be invited back?? if he was wrongly or rightly sent off he has to go. red means you leave the pitch even if it was wrong

bloody brilliant today. all the lads gave 110%.

drake made some brilliant saves

dell was much better

jarvo and skip were heroic

moleski worked hard

mason supported the attack as much as possible

wilko hasnt got enough legs to shut people down as much as he once did but made some great crunching tackles

davies is quality. he should be taking the free kicks as well as the corners

errol and Wallo look like scoring. that is biggest change. they hold the ball brilliantly

That's definitely more like it, a deserved win.

Billericay have "one of the best teams" according to their supporters, but they aren't looking like it. They struggled to create anything meaningful against our resolute defence. They look like a lot of sides at this level, strong & organised, but if you're prepared to play like we did you'll get a result. Not pretty, but hell we need the points.

Good game today - we showed some real balls after Tuesday night. Felt a bit like a cup tie, and seemed more than 290 odd there for me. Battled hard and got our first win of the season and most importantly finally got some luck! Ricay weren't a bad side, but the battling got us the win.

Thought that the back four were excellent. Leach had a nightmare first 30 mins but after that did well. Wilko was awesome and I don't know how he does that week-in week-out at his age.

Slightly disagree with what people are saying about Wallace and Telemaque. Thought at time when we were 1-0 ahead they were not working hard enough to keep the ball up front, but apart from that those two did very well.

Sour note today was Errol's sending off, and the fact that in the stand it looks as though both Alexis and G are way off coming back. G even had his arm in a sling <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Keep up the battling performaces boys and hope Westy can add a few more to the squad, as we have nobody else to come in!

So much better today. I think having a decent striker not only helped Wallo's game it takes pressure off of the defence a bit more.

Everyone played well, though if i were to be picky, Drake's game with the high ball and coming off his line scares me a bit, but like mentioned above a few times, a good shot stopper.

The Ricky number 4 stayed on because of mistaken identity, which i think was right as the 6 was the naughty boy though some of us felt others could have easily got in trouble. Shame about Errol, but when someone is throwing punches at you, you will defend yourself.

mistaken identity is not a reason to overturn a red card during the game

Incorrect. This is taken from the Rules of the Game

Quote:
Decisions of the Referee

The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play are final. The referee may only change a decision on realising that it is incorrect or, at his discretion, on the advice of an assistant referee, provided that he has not restarted play or terminated the match.

Therefore having decided he had sent off the wrong player, he was entitled to change that decision and send off the right person

Mason aslo performed well

I thought he was quite poor today.

Thought we deserved all three points today. We worked as a team and didn't look afraid to go forward like we have done in recent weeks.

Errol Telemaque and Terry Davies were definatly the key today. with Erro manmarked by at least 2 defenders, this gave Adam Wallace the time and space he needed to work well.

Thing is though, what will we do when they aren't available? We can't rely on them forever and with Wallace and Telemaque about to serve suspensions, and about 3 or 4 other players injured dosn't make good reading...
