EDGWARE TOWN v HAREFIELD UNITED

Recommended Posts

Got to say I'm surprised, and feel a little sorry for Harefield as well who pulled off a great result and at no fault of their own now have to replay the game.

Great boost for Edgware though, but by ordering the match to be replayed it does bring up more questions than answers.

Seems that only Edgware (for understandable reasons) think that this is a good decision.

True, because in theory we have THREE games in hand over Hertford, and are two points behind.

As Elaine said, hopefully some good will come out of it, namely the officials will learn the rules of the game properly, or is that too much to hope for

Begs the question as to what you do if this decision goes "for" you in the future. Should you hold on for the win then the match is replayed, should you lose then I doubt the opposition would appeal.

As soon as the ref made the bad call, Harefield were onto a loser no matter what they did. Result should have stood with the ref getting into trouble for failing to apply the rules of the game.

I'm sure that all refs would get the answer right in a theory exam, Gav - just one of those inexplicable things that happen.

Oh no doubt its tough luck on Harefield, I fully admit that.

If the shoe was on the other foot, I would gutted to say the least to have to replay the match and lose the 3pts that was won on the night. True, the ref should have got a slap on the wrist, and true in many ways it screams of Edgware and sour grapes.

To be honest I never expected the result to be overturn and I am VERY supprised that it has been.

It does raise some dangerous questions as to games in the future with decisons that are against the laws of the game.

The bottom line is that the officials did not apply the letter of the law, not just the ref but the linesman , one particualr who was a real [****!!****] [****!!****] that night.

As I said, light the blue torch paper and stand well back when the game does get played, its going to be tasty!!

I have said all season the standard of referees in this league is disgraceful the sooner Edgware and Hertford get out the better, no disrespect to the other teams, but at least they were some half decent refs in the league last season.

Some more wrong decisions could be very costly to the leading pack in this division, what was the referee`s name in that game Gavin?

Don't get me wrong Gavin, I wouldn't say that it seems like Edgware have got sour grapes, god knows its annoying enough when you get ref's who give bad decisions that cost you the match, but when they make a call like the ref did in your game then it infuriating and I don't blame you for appealing. I am surprised at the decision though as I just think that it is a dangerous precident that it is setting.

Saying that I do hope the match is going to be played in a midweek as I quite fancy going

I agree Manic, the worry is that an officials decssion could cost you promotion.

Mark Tweed is the name of the ref that night. Can you belive that the assesor said he would give him 100 out of 100 after the game!

This descision has turned the league into a laughing stock, how many times do officials make mistakes and the result stands, take the goal that didnt count for spurs an man u

Seems the league have been bullied by Edgware into submission

poor show allround

....

Interesting first post bellboy, you dont have anything to do with Harefield Utd do you?

"bullied"? hardly, I would not imagine that any club would be able to bully their league, let alone the FA.

Spurs 'goal' v Man u, crossed the line, the officials made a mistake, as they do every week up and down the land. This however was not just a mistake it was the letter of the law (law 14) and they got it wrong.

Edgware were fully in their rights to appeal. Hard luck on Harefield or any other side that had to lose points, but blame the ref not Edgware for making the appeal.

Haha, another new poster, I wonder if they are both Harefield fans in disguise, or maybe its the ref from the game in question, come on here to check it all out.

Who should be the ref? the league NEED to get the highest step ref they can for the game. It promises to be a highly charged game, as does the game at Harefield. No dates for either game yet.
