Burton on Sat

Recommended Posts

Hopefully a few more than 40! But after Tuesday's performance, some of the usual 40 may not go! Hope they do!

Hopefully, Ross smith, Jon Keeling and Mark DeBolla will be back, I saw Mark DeBolla at the match, he seemed OK, and saw Ross Smith in town, he said his knee injury is coming along OK.

Does anyone know of any news on the injury front, Harry-J???

Come on the Fleet!!

And not forgetting that Stacey Long has "upped" his training and could force his way onto the bench.

I wonder if we will go 352 or revert to 442 if Keeling is fit.

Would be nice to see Opinel working the left flank with Keeling, would cause Burton a few problems, and between them they should get the ball further down the line before getting the crosses in.

I thought this was one of the problems Tuesday, crosses were being made from too deep, always going to happen with wing backs, whereas genuine wingers tend to get past the full back and get the cross in squarer, which always causes centre halves more difficulty to defend.

Also thought that Anderson looked to do enough to warrant a start, looks very tricky and put in a couple of useful crosses during his short time on the pitch, and indeed almost scored a very good goal.

Therefore, if all these are fit , could the team look like this? :

Cronin

Ricketts McCarthy R Smith Opinel

Anderson Quinn Moore Keeling

McDonald Sodje

Subs: Mott J Smith Coleman Slatter Ekoku

How man going to Burton Sat? i know Tuesday was rubbish. But come on support the boys!!!!

Hi SLF ( Why do I get a sudden urge to burst into alternative Ulster at this stage ! )

Burton away is a usual for me, but due to reasons beyond my control, unfortunately you will have to get by without me. Which is a shame as was looking forward to meeting up with a few of the boys you are bringing.

Be back in the country on the morning of the Woking game, so see yer then.

Up the Fleet . Keep the Faith

I hope he would go for pretty much the same as you Gary but hoping that De Bolla is fit this is what I'd go for.

Cronin

Ricketts, Macca, Ross, Crazy Frog

Anderson, Quinn, De Bolla, Keeling

Charlie, Sodje.

I don't think he will be this way I think he'll play Moore up front due to Sodje not overly impressing on Tuesday, although he did on Saturday. If De Bolla or Kelling is not fit on Saturday then I think it will be Macca and the two Smiths, Ricketts, Opinel, Quinn, Moore Charlie and Onome. If Ross isn't fit... well lets not even begin to imagine what might happen.

If I were to keep Luke Moore in the team, I would replace Rob Quinn. Rob Quinn is not a noticable player on the field for me I'm afraid, although he's done nothing bad to my knowledge.

May I also ask why Sacha is the Crazy Frog? Was it in the programme or something?

If we don't have anyone returning from injury I expect we will start with the same line-up and formation which started on Tuesday.

We had a bad night on Tuesday but that is the same line-up that impressed against Cambridge.

Not knowing who will or won't return from injury I won't speculate on who should be left out to make room for them but if we stick with 3:5:2 I would expect Ricketts and Opinel to get the nod ahead of Anderson and Purcell. Personally I would have Coleman in in place of Slatts as I like his ability to run ahead of the forwards and his tenacity in closing down players when we don't have the ball.

Quinn is like Bowry... people don't notice what he does, but take him out of the team and there's not many players that can slot in and do the same role. Luke Moore just isn't that kind of midfielder.

As for Crazy Frog, Sachs got that nickname at Crawley because (1) he was a bit red-misted and prone to kicking the odd forward and (2) he's French!
