Effort, attitude and commitment

Effort, attitude and commitment.

That's what we missed today and that's what may cost us at the end of the season.

Yes we can beat the lesser sides in this league because we have good players, but when it comes to a battle against one of the better sides we just seem to crumble as talent will not just get you through those matches.

There were too many players bottling challenges today. We did not deserve our first half lead and at the end it was embarrassing.

Northwood wanted it big time - we had no fight.

After three and a half years in the job, and Steve Browne still cannot get the right attitude, effort and committment from the players. Says a certain something about his managerial skills, which are at least probably better than his tactical knowledge.

Seriously though, if after this long he still can't hack it, you'd think he'd realise he's not up for the job.

Blimey has he really been in charge for three and a half years?!I have never been one to call for manager`s heads even when Robert`s was in charge. And although already there has been lots of outrage after today`s defeat it is our first defeat in a while. Maybe it would be best for all concerned that Browne is relieved of the managers job and let someone else have a try.

I'd happily give him until the end of the season, if he'd only walk if we weren't promoted, or within a few points. At least that way there'd be something to look forward to.

I don' t think we will be very close, and that yet again next season will see us in the same inadaquate hands.

No he must go now because we could still make runners up spot, with the right commitment. What I don't understand is Deaner was strong enough to sack/let go Roberts, yet he has not got the foresight to see after all this time that Steve Browne just doesn't have it,any manager that keeps quite on the bench lacks motivational skills bigtime.

On a more self congratulationally(is that a word)theme I did say after we beat Northwood at home, that they were the best side in the league, but I seem to remember one of the sites administrators disagreeing-it shows we can all learn.

Absolutely Matt !

I have no idea about Paul's management or coaching skills, but Browne is so clueless on both this is hardly an issue.

Where Barras is clearly at the opposite end of the spectrum from Browne is in motivation and leadership skills - body language of the players suggests they have a lot more respect for him than for the cabbage on the bench.

Browne's visible contributions yesterday were:

1) to have a completely unneccessary spat with the linesman in the first half - totally pointless as it was the ref who made the mistake over the positioning of a freekick. This was the lino who gave two diabolical offside decisions early in the 2nd half - was the lino incompetet or was this a case of Browne-induced spite perhaps ?

2) to pull off one of the handfull of payers (Barras) who was giving his all - Yes Paul was having a very poor game by his standards but others were having worse, and this substitution ruduced a poor defence to a complete shambles !

3) most of all Browne was the model for a team spirit that was as flat as Norhtwood's was vibrant.

I truly cannot conceive that there is another senior football club in the country that has tolerated such stunning incompetence from its supposed leader for so long. I don't understand how he survived the first season, let alone 3 more !

We may still go up this season - on our day we are better than the main rivals and they continue to throw in poor results from time to time - but it will surely be in spite of Browne rather than because of him.

Let's hope the New Year really starts next Saturday !

I would love to do a job where i was clearly incompetent, didnt give toss about anyones opinions, hopelessly inept at motivation, but know that i will never be sacked!.............that is Deaners biggest crime of all, he hasn't got the bottle to change it, or is it non payment time coming up and he knows Browne works occasionally for nothing?

You think that's the problem? You tell that figure to the fans and you'd have it within a few days if it meant that he left the club well alone.

I'd certainly put my fair share in and so would many others. Just look what the Barmy Army have achieved with their player sponsorship already....
