Forget systems we have a problem with players who are simply not reliable at the top level.

Ferdinand always makes the simple (casual) error and has done so over an extended run as England’s primary CH.

He is supposed to be a footballing CH but looks lost and delays when coming forward losing momentum when he is supposed to be setting a higher tempo coming forward.

Terry both for England and Chelsea is found wanting in regular similar situations at set piece defending where he attempts to get in front of the man he is marking and loses him, this time a 5’ 7” player who beat Terry in the air.

Crouch looks second rate due to lack of pace and strength, we cannot afford a striker who needs others to supply both pace and power.

To play alongside Rooney we must have a striker who supplies outstanding power or pace or both.

====================Robinson

Neville=======Woodgate========King==========Cole

Lennon=========Hargreaves=======Gerard=========Cole

======================Rooney

From: Owen==Defoe==Bent==Ashton

Subs: Terry==Lampard===Dawson===SWP===Bridge etc.

Crouch is supposed to be a supplier to Rooney and mid-fielders breaking through.

He cannot earn his place unless we consider he would achieve against the worlds top 6, this is where we have failed in the past how many major tournements.

He would not give us the power and has no pace at that level.

great team apart from the fact half of them are injured, suspended or not match fit!!

Neville makes the big mistake!

As someone involved in youth football, I do not know how many times we tell the kids, do not pass back to the keeper in front of goal, always wide and always five yards in front off him, and on his best foot, Neville was sloppy and made his team mate suffer!!

no excuse,as robinson was in goal surely he should of took a touch,there was no one around.Its his area,the divot was massive,surely he should of seen it earlier and put it right

no one elses fault apart from robbo,and the first i blame him as well as a goalie shouldn't get beaten from there with a header,nor should terry of let him get it in!

The first goal was down to Robbo, I agree, however Cole turned his back and did not attack the ball!!

If Robbo stays on his line he saves that!!

In his defence he could argue, that he expected Terry & Cole to clear that ball!!

The second was no way his fault if you watch he could not have "took a touch" as it bobbled at a pace that would have took it into the goal weather it was a touch or a swing!!

The ball should have been played at less pace and further wide, I know who fergie would blame if that was Man United!!

Ask any goalkeeper coach, he had no chance!!

Agreed but I was outlining a team with the intelligence pace and power to hold its own at the top level.
Nevelle is no spring chicken and cannot achieve his best when Ferdinand is making all around him nervous as he does on regular occassions. Neville looked good enough when King played and when SWP came on
Dawson educated not to give away free kicks is a great prospect and very close to being ready.
Lampard may come again but is off the pace even against teams rated below us. Gerard will be back after losing out in one game. Both Coles need time to recover from injury and lost pre-season but both are good enough at the very top of the game.
Hargreaves needs cover but has proven to be the holding player.

We are not the team the publicity outfits make out we are but we could be.

Lampard has to be dropped. You need a driving force in that middle spot and Gerrard must be in it. Hargreaves when fit must be the holding man. Because he is injured, Carrick must have it because when he was allowed space on Wednesday, he used it.

Crouch must be dropped too but not because he isn't playing well. I just dont think the team works with him in it. Rooney with Defoe looks like a good option because you have Rooney who comes to the ball and then runs with it and then Defoe runs onto through balls. They are different attacking players and it could make a change from being one dimensional and just hitting and hoping for Crouch to get it. The thing about that is that they do the same thing to Rooney. They hit and hope and he is too small for that kind of service.

Drop Lampard and Crouch and do not ever play Parker again because he is not international class.
