Match Thread vs Ashford Town(Mx)

I hope this was the worse game of the season, however I fear there may be worse to come - I hope I am proved wrong.

Only 2 subs due to Jonny Mason not being registered, and then only having Rav and Carl Marsh.

Mark West stayed on for 60-70 mins and worked hard but with a weak midfield and a sloppy defense the writing was on the wall from early on.

If we put a team like this out on Saturday it will be double figures!!!

Attendance 149

With our strongest avaliable team we will give any team in this division difficulty, but as a squad (the replacements for the starting x1) we probably have the worst squad in the league.

I won't pick out individuals, (but we all know) that some of the replacements are simply nowhere good enough for this level. Now I know the old 'lack of money' excuse will come out, but what the club should have done in my opinion was have held an open trial over the summer, advertising in the local papers and radio to get potential players. Would have been cheap and could have picked up some untapped talent.

Burnham got some local players in the Swift brothers (from Eton Wick) and they are doing well for them - why did we not do the same thing!!

Cannot believe that scoreline what the hell happened to us i really hoped we would win this game and get some much needed morale and confidence going in to saturdays game.

For me i think Drake is the weakest link in the team he makes so many silly mistakes,he was a quality keeper when he was at Hampton but he just doesn't look as if he can replicate that form.

Lets just hope we can salvage something from the Billericay game. we showed some positive signs on saturday until Wallace was sent off for an obvious elbow which was stupid considering we played well up until he decided to get himself sent off.

right, as we're seem to be plunging head-first toward relegation I may as well say what needs to happen next summer. Firstly, let West and Wilko keep charge of the team until the end of the season as there's no pont bringing someone new in now because they won't have any time to bed in new players or a system before we're down. Then...

Manager and assistant: MINIMUM seven years experience coaching in this league. If you're going to bring in a former player as a coach that's fine, but don't give them control of the team. This club needs someone with experience and Jarvis and West don;t have that.

Players: Anyone in the current squad is welcome to return but their places aren't safe, and have open trials for all of July. Most Sunday league players would give anything to play proper football and who knows, some of them may be better than what we have at the moment. and as tonight made painfully clear, we need a squad of more than fifteen players if we're actually going to be able to keep any semblance of form together.

Chris hits the nail on the head there.

We had several players missing today through injury or in Errol's case being cup tied. These included: G, Harris, Duncan, Woody, Alexis and Daly. Alexis does not think he will be back any time soon. The squad is just not strong enough to cover those absences. Why is that? Is the budget that low?

Ashford made 7 or 8 changes today. They must have a squad of 20 competent players. How is that possible? Do they have some sugar daddy?

Roy in his programme notes criticised some of the posters from this UNOFFICIAL forum. Now I appreciate the work Roy does for the club but does he really think anyone enjoyed watching that? What are we supposed to do - sit on our hands?

Well there is the Trophy. A run in that would be good as it can be quite lucrative, and it is, after all, looking like it's about a lack of money with us. I couldn't care less about the Berks & Bucks, it's all about the remaining 32 league games!

A run in the trophy, you are bonkers! with this shower the most we can hope for is winning the toss ( and I wouldn't bank on that happening much either).

Some one said last season that it was the worst Slough team ever-they were wrong, this team is.

i honestly thought we had a chance of winning last night, and up until their 2nd i could see that there was a slight chance, but after that we just fell apart. thought westy did well but was never going to last 90 minutes, and davies also did well with what he could get. very worrying that we are down to just rav and carl (is he a forward or are we just desperate?) on the bench.

I'm glad I missed the first 35 minutes to be honest. Completely hopeless from what I saw.

Off topic, I sincerely hope that Carl Taylor was only at the match as he has nothing better to do now he is unemployed. If he is sniffing around for the managers job we might as well take relegation now.

Without harping on about the obvious injuries that we have and players on the bench who are nowhere good enough for this level, I was very impressed with Terry Davies.

In the first half he showed how it should be done i.e. confidence in his own ability to want the ball, close control when he got the ball, worked his [****!!****] off up and down the left flank and that vital ingredient that most of our players lack...PACE!.

Unfortunately at half time the instructions to him must have been to stay up front and he disappeared because of all the pointless long balls we continue to play.

So with Davies, Telemaque and rumours last night of another forward being signed and maybe Carbon coming back there could be a chink of light in all the doom and gloom.
